Winehole seems to be hitting the wine too soon. I said nothing of the sort.
CC seems to be suggesting Susan Rice is an affirmative action hire; eligible only by dint of her gender and race.

No feigned outrage here, . Just a statement of fact.
calm down john wayne..... it's fact that all presidents do this.. so why are you outraged now?
you suggested her professional interest in emerging African countries disqualifies her in some way. care to spell that out?
Yeah. When I think of a National Security Advisor I think of someone that has actual experience and credentials in national security like Colin Powell had.
credentials don't mean much when you lie your way through a UN presentation.
You mean like Rice on Benghazi?
I get it. Y'all are Obama supporters. You knee jerk support his choice, qualified or not. This was Obama just shooting the finger at Congress for not allowing her to be Secretary of State.

I agree. It was an irrational choice made for all the wrong reasons by a bad president.
Meh. She is not completely unqualified. Lets see how she does.
It's not like we have a choice.
i never praised rice's credentials like you did powell's.
four years on the National Security Council doesn't count, why? is that not actual experience?
What years was she ON the National Security Council and what exact position did she hold on the council?
A little help for you...
The NSC is chaired by the President. Its regular attendees (both statutory and non-statutory) are the Vice President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Defense, and the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the statutory military advisor to the Council, and the Director of National Intelligence is the intelligence advisor. The Chief of Staff to the President, Counsel to the President, and the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy are invited to attend any NSC meeting. The Attorney General and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget are invited to attend meetings pertaining to their responsibilities. The heads of other executive departments and agencies, as well as other senior officials, are invited to attend meetings of the NSC when appropriate.
1993-1997. Rice was an under-Secretary of State.
If you have a point, please share it,.
That's not even close to being on the NSC.
busted.
BTW, you have your dates wrong too. It was 97-2002
is something awry factually in this account?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_RiceRice served in the Clinton administration in various capacities: at the National Security Council (NSC) from 1993 to 1997; as director for international organizations and peacekeeping from 1993 to 1995 and as special assistant to the president and senior director for African affairs from 1995 to 1997.
What does that have to do with being on the National Security Council?
whether on not Rice held a le at the NSC, attending NSC meetings over four years would seem to qualify as relevant NatSec experience at a high level.
why you're belittling the "Africa desk" somewhat escapes me. care to fill us in?
you consider Africa to be geopolitically unimportant, or something like that?
Where does it say she attended NSC meetings for 4 years? I assume you know that anyone that holds an executive position at the State Department is an "Assistant Secretary of State", right? There are like 30 of them.
