Pop actually had a chance to take a jab at Stern:

"You might be referring to the fact the regular season is way too long and I rest players and give the bench a chance to show what they can do. Well, we got fined for that once. So, you could probably imagine that the next fine for resting Parker (taken as mailing in the game), in a FINALS game would bankrupt this organization. It is very difficult to know when to rest players, who might be injured, when the possibility of a large fine looms."

But salty old Pop would know that would lead to many more questions. He is not as playful as Phil Jackson.

If Parker is able to play at a reasonable level, it makes absolutely no sense to keep him out in Game 4. If he plays, he may or may not aggravate his injury and miss time. If Pop sits him, he definitely misses time.

To me, it's akin to letting a guy play with a 5th foul. The worst-case scenario is, he picks up a sixth and has to sit, but that's only a possibility. If the coach chooses sits him, then it's a definite. I understand the strategy of taking that choice and saving your guy for crunch time, but...

This is crunch time. There are 2-4 games left in the season. Don't try to outsmart fate. Roll the dice, and let the players decide the outcome.

GNSF got their hands on some press credentials. There have been a few articles lately about Pop's prickliness with the media where the reporters have really been trying to shed a light on the real Pop, which is that away from the nuisance of an in game interview (or these kind of postseason pressers where outlets or writers that haven't paid the Spurs any attention all year show up) he's polite and eloquent and generous with his time. Secretly I've been hoping that Pop (assuming he was even aware such things were being written) would respond by doubling or even tripling down on the vitriol the first chance he got. This is a good start. Next step is to come over the desk and go after the guy like an out of control Jerry Springer guest. Bonus points if he's screaming: "YOU DON'T KNOW ME! YOU DON'T KNOW ME!" over and over as security restrains him.

    It's grade 1. No tear.

No way they even think about sitting Parker.
