This. No one gives a about winning against trash teams like the cavs, nets. No one gives a about winning in a lockout season either and no one gives a about winning against the "great ing defensive pistons" who spurfan likes to talk up when in reality they couldn't score.

The first real finals opponent Duncan has faced he wilted. That's it and that's all.

How can you be nonexistent in the fourth quarter of a finals closing game? I know he played great prior to the 4th but why didn't this "goat" PF step up? Did the pressure get to him? Was that ty Miami bigs rotation too much? He had a chance to cement his legacy and close it out but didn't do tbh

Meanwhile 2011 dirk who started 1-12 in game 6 scored 10 points in the 4th and actually showed up
30 pts and 17 rebs not enough from a starting center - much less a 37 year old one? And Duncan's legacy is already cemented - GOAT PF.

Blaming Duncan for this loss in any capacity is as silly as blaming Dirk for the '06 Finals debacle, in which Dirk missed a couple huge FTs in two different games and had 2 4th quarter points on 0-3 shooting in game 6 of that series. Dirk had 27 points going into the 4th, much like Duncan had 30. I always hate it when a player has a big first half or 3 quarters, because you know the entire defense of the opposing team is going to prioritize that player, putting the pressure on the role players to step up in the 4th. If Manu and Parker simply play up to par, the Spurs are celebrating 5 right now.

Basically, Manu and Parker were the equivalent of Howard and Terry.

And like Harlem mentioned, Parker went hero mode and didn't even look for Duncan in the post.

Duncan owned last night. He blew his wad offensively in the first half but got a ton of boards and played stout D throughout. Dude isn't 25 anymore, we can't ask him to do everything.
