I wouldn't say I'm "happy" about D12 being gone, but I'm not crushed either. I guess I've always been ambivalent to Dwight, even when we had him it never really felt like he embraced the Lakers or our fanbase. He always seemed like a rental.
That being said, it would have been nice to keep him as someone who could recruit talent in '14 and '15. He will never be the "man" because he simply doesn't have the mental for ude for it. But, he can win a ship as a pivotal cog piece playing along-side other stars (ala Bosh).
You don't need him to recruit. Players will always want to wear gold and purple. Better off starting from scratch, post-Kobe then having the media pretend Dwight would ever be able to handle the pressure of leading the LAL franchise.

I'd like to believe that, but I don't see that type of star player in the nba any more. It's all about joining other stars these days. Still, I'm more than a little relieved that D12 isn't our "star"
