Kareem and Dwight Howard. Kareem's offensive post game and defensive dominance plus the media exposure that Dwight gets, and we get the GOAT.

    KAREEM/RUSSEL

could care less about 3pt shooting for a big man, you are forcing him to take low %shots while not taking advantage of his inside game....

It's not a low % shot if you're a 3pt specialist and wide open, gives the opportunity to space the floor for others when needed, don't need to shoot 3s every game, jut having that weapon in your arsenal is great. Combining Kareem and Russell you get a horrible FT shooter with Pau Gasol's offensive game (Russell was that bad on O) but with Ben Wallace/Zo defense. Not a bad combo, but a big man that has no outside game and is a bad ft shooter is a liability at the end of games. I'd want my big man to be able to shoot, opens up the floor in so many ways + no hack tactics for the other team, if your big man is a 55-60% FT shooter he's a bad option when you need a basket to win a game. It's usually why bigs like Shaq always needed the best perimeter scorers in Penny,Kobe,Wade and Lebron(though they didn't win ).

Imagine if Dwight Howard had post game and a mid-range shot, he'd be the best player in the league. Already a 20 point 15 reb 3 blk threat without solid offensive game..tbh

    lebron + bird

lebron: athletic freak, shaky jump shot, decent in the clutch
bird: not athletic, great shooter, clutch as , one of the smartest players ever

combine the two and you have a player with no weaknesses

Please. He let Magic take his pants down & neutralize his manhood. I suppose Magic did it under the guise peace & harmony, but, he's only one of the two to ever ring again once the peace pipe was smoked.

no player is infallible. magic let '84 get away from him. just like that does not diminish him, i don't think '85 or '87 diminishes bird in any way.

At least his game would be watchable if you insert some of TMac's smoothness into LeBron's game.

shaq dominated an era where the best center besides him was Ben Wallace tbh. The compe ion he faced in the Finals (when he won and was considered the dominant force) were Smits, old Mutombo, Todd MacCulloch, and Eric Dampier. Who were the league's best centers in the early-mid 2000's. Sabonis, Divac, Robinson, Mutombo were all pretty old. Thats why I never understood people that write off Wilt for his lack of compe ion but then hold Shaq so high up. From 92-97, Shaq struggled against the likes if Robinson/Olajuwon. In head to head matchups, they would get the better of him both in the win column and in the box score stats. Shaq started pounding on them when they aged and Robinson's body started breaking down. TOSB Wilt would hold his own against Alcindor though
History has a funny way of rewriting itself through the pen that is people's memories.

    From 1992-97:

Shaquille v. Hakeem (Shaq 8 wins, Hakeem 2)

    Shaq: 23.3 PPG, 13.9 RPG, 56.2% FG
    Dream: 23.8 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 45.1% FG

Shaquille v. David Robinson (Shaq 3 wins, David 5)

    Shaq: 26.4 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 50.9% FG
    D-Rob: 29.1 PPG, 12.3 RPG, 51.0% FG

Shaq may have had varying degrees of success at times against those guys in one game or another, but he far from struggled against them. At the very least, he held his own. Especially with Hakeem, I think people assumed Hakeem dominated Shaq because of the 1995 NBA Finals. But truth is, even in the Finals, Shaq held his own. I know Shaq has stated Hakeem whooped his butt. But truth is, their match-up was pretty close:

    1995 NBA Finals:

    Shaq: 28 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 59.5% FG
    Dream: 32.8 PPG, 11.5 RPG, 48.3% FG

And it's not like Shaq only started dominating in the early 2000s just because that's when he started winning les. He was a 20/10 guy the moment he got drafted and started putting up 29/13 type numbers as early as his second season. He didn't just dominate starting in 2000. And he did do damage even against HOF players like Hakeem and David when they were putting up MVP caliber seasons themselves. And Vlade was only a couple years older than Shaq. And there were also guys like Alonzo and Yao Ming later on even if they aren't necessarily HOF caliber centers. It wasn't like Shaq was dominating 6'5 white guys at the center position game in and game out.

Please. If Magic would have taken his beating like a man in 86 they'd be square. But he didn't have the stomach to lose to Bird again, so he took the coward's way out and fell on his own sword a round earlier.

Christ. He shot 60% in the Finals that year.
