Honestly surprised by both lol...
not paying to read the article tbh
Whatever statistical system they're using is worthless. In the PG rankings Parker is 13th and is trailing the likes of Mike Conley and Kemba Walker.
Their objective (albeit arbitrary) model doesn't conform to my preconceived rankings, hence these rankings are totally worthless

TP the #13 PG and Manu the #3 SG, I smell a rat I am sure the CoM and the Church of DeColo are behind this.
I'm not "surprised" that they rank that high - it's such a weak position compared to PG. I was much more surprised about Parker falling behind friggen Kyle Lowry and 11 others guys.
Not really, most of best players in NBA's history were SG. Oh well, maybe not now.
Even the prime manu hasn't ever reached that height, and Green ain't nowhere close to the top flight, imho.
Yeah, I meant right now - the position has changed dramatically.
their top 10 list for pg's
1. paul
2. westbrook
3. irving
4. curry
5. williams
6. conley
7. rose
8. lowry
9. lawson
10. lillard
"their next five: kemba walker, john wall, TONY PARKER, jose calderon, ricky rubio
That was fun. Nothing stirs the pot in the sports world more than rankings. On Monday, we began our projected rankings of NBA players by position with point guards, and today we continue with shooting guards. One thing I learned from the series' first installment: Tony Parker has lots of fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Yesterday, that was me running down Lake Shore Drive with an angry, multinational mob of basketball fans in pursuit with torches and pitchforks.![]()
No prime Manu through the various advanced statistics has always been around that rank. Even this down-season, he is a top 5 shooting guard in RAPM and one of the top offensive players in the league.
It's why he'll have an even stronger legacy than people counting rings and various achievements realize. Advanced stats are taking over and bias will be made to look sillier and sillier. Even places like this will eventually suc b to good data and it's advanced stats that has Manu as one of the best players of his era and greatest shooting guards of all time.
@ Manu being 3rd best SG. The writer of the article must still think it's 2005.
Are there any "ESPN Insiders" out there who are willing to tell us this idiotic ESPN "analyst"'s SG list (and risk revealing their own idiocy for being "ESPN Insiders" in the process?)
ESPN puts the ANAL in ANALYST!!!!!!
I'm just kidding, I love you people, anyways, I just don't give it or take it in the butt, like you, for paying for ESPN in the golden age of communication.
My statements are meant as no offense to those of you who REALLY take it in the butt (gayly, but not in a genuine ESPN take-it-in-the-ass-then-felch gay manner).
the new crop of SGs like Beal/Thompson will replace Manu this season
but he was actually the 4th best SG after Harden/Wade/Kobe last season
SG position is that bad right now
weaker then center imo

Well honestly other than Wade and Harden who else is there? He's 3rd by default but there's a huge dropoff from 2nd tbh.
Hangon, so the guy who was in most analysts Top 3 players for last year in the MVP race, is only the 13th best point guard? That makes ... sense?
Found it here among other places: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=242594
The Manu s
The Manu worshippers
The Manu apologists
The homers
SG is a very weak position, but there's no way those two are that good.
was that ranked by counting his contributions for both the Spurs and the Heat?
if so, sounds about right tbh
wonder how much Pat Riley offered Manu to sign with Miami, tbh...
Nice cover!![]()
