You mean it's easy to get Jack off of it?
I looked it up...
Effexor xr is one of the newer SSRI Meds... (Influencing the serotonin and nor epinephrine chemicals in the brain) they claim that Effexor XR is not addictive....(It has a similar Side Effect /warning condition as Zoloft... )
It sounds to me that this is an easy drug to stop using it Jack does not want to keep using it...Some of the older Meds like Prozac stayed in your system & took a gradual withdrawal process...
I think Jack will be fine...![]()
You mean it's easy to get Jack off of it?
The newer SSRIs are supposed to have fewer of the sexual side effects than the older ones like Prozac, but they still have to list them all on in the literature. Everyone's body chemistry is different and there are so many different SSRIs out there now that if one doesn't work there are still a couple of dozen more to try. You should give each one a month to 6 weeks trial if possible to get the maximum benefits. Usually your docotr can find the right fit in a couple of tries or by just adjusting the dosage up or down.
SW is right about the sexual side effects for women being much more of a downer. It takes a lot more trial and error to find the right medication for us that doesn't also take away either our desire or our ability to climax. It's kind of difficult to explain how an antidepressant can help elevate your mood but not put you in the mood for sex nor be able to climax when you do have it. A real conundrum. So tell Jack to shut up and count his blessings that he a guy.

where is that lady that talks about sex and dildos when you need her?
As a member of the Church of Scientology I recommend that you cease taking all of these medications. They are a scam.
Anything that takes longer than three minutes is abnormal ejaculation.
What Are Ejaculation Disorders?
There are different types of ejaculation disorders, including:
Premature ejaculation -- This refers to ejaculation that occurs before or soon after penetration.
Inhibited or re ed ejaculation -- This is when ejaculation is slow to occur.
Retrograde ejaculation -- This occurs when, at orgasm, the ejaculate is forced back into the bladder rather than through the urethra and out the end of the penis.
In some cases, premature and inhibited ejaculation are caused by psychological factors, including a strict religious background that causes the person to view sex as sinful, a lack of attraction for a partner and past traumatic events. Premature ejaculation, the most common form of sexual dysfunction in men, often is due to nervousness over how well he will perform during sex. Certain drugs, including some anti-depressants, may affect ejaculation, as can nerve damage to the spinal cord or back.
Retrograde ejaculation is common in males with diabetes who suffer from diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage). This is due to problems with the nerves in the bladder and the bladder neck that allow the ejaculate to flow backward. In other men, retrograde ejaculation occurs after operations on the bladder neck or prostate, or after certain abdominal operations. In addition, certain medications, particularly those used to treat mood disorders, may cause problems with ejaculation.

I was just joking about the shut up part. Didn't mean to upset anyone. Sorry.
I understand, I have lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been on chemo since 1998. And you are right, it and some of the other meds like steriods can cause depression and mood disorders. I hope your friend finds relief. Wish him luck for me.
