Better fit for this team than Bellinelli. Small sample size but Maggette fills a position need while his talents, despite being limited, are vital and consistent (getting to the line). Belinelli forces us to play one guy out of position every time he's on the floor, and his inconsistent jumpshot mechanics mixed with the confidence of Gary Neal will drive everyone up a wall.

His handles will make up for Gary's inadequacy as a ball-handler, but Marco is a no-no down the stretch because you can't trust his shot or decision making. Maggette won't be asked to do more than his role, and he's the type of player to do that effectively.

That said, if Maggette is just going to be signed to be a microball 4 next to Ayres or Baynes, it would be a disaster.

He went to the line 8 times and made them all. That's a good sign, based on boxscore solely.

Might not be the greatest defender, but if he could get key guys into foul trouble from the opposing team, I guess that's just as good as playing defense by keeping those guys on the bench. I don't know whether he has a legit shot or not, but I'd be all for it. Would give us a different element in whatever amount of playing time he would get.

Having 15 players under contract with Spurs being that far from the luxury tax (more than $7M below it if Maggette is kept) doesn't really take away flexibility. If there is an available player Spurs like, they can easily waive another one with a guaranteed contract.

His statistical drop post-GSW is pretty steep. He's only been to the playoffs with that Cassell LAC team too, so I imagine the motivation to make this team is there.

If he can't make a team in search of a backup SF and with said variable in mind, then it makes sense to retire.

Last I heard, he wanted a guaranteed contract, not a camp invite. He's still on the market. After watching Young and Maggette play, I don't think Pietrus could have been any worse at this point.

I don't think he's going to make the cut. He ABSOLUTELY watched a rebound hit the floor, when he was the closest player to it, and Faried RAN in and grabbed it. Pop don't play that .

I watched that play and had a similar reaction. Honestly, I was still kind of on a fence with him until I saw that. Yea, not interested anymore.

That was kinda shocking to see. The vast majority of the posters on here could have grabbed that board...wtf was he thinking?

Yeah not sure what that was about, but it's not going to help his case at all. He's gone.

No idea. Not too happy with him after this game. He has a golden chance to make the team, but he is blowing it so far. I'd still give him a game or two, especially if he hasn't played for 10 months or so, like Bruno said.

Anymore games with those poor hustle plays though and you might as just well cut him outright and look for players that are hungrier. I'd be interested in Pietrus if he is OK physically. What do you think about Pietrus, Bruno?

Pietrus wants guaranteed money. The Spurs want someone who can spell Kawhi for just 10-12 minutes. I don't see a meeting of the minds happening.

If only Maggette had a mcdyess type jumper to go with his ability to draw fouls I'd be all In for corey. At this point, I think we should keep the 15th spot open. We always have diaw/Manu to put there when Kawhi needs rest.

I kinda like Fells after these 3 games. He played better than Maggette. Can we cut Maggette, then stick Fells in Toros so that we can call him up when we need him?

With the way things are going in regards to the backup small forward position if Deshaun Thomas was in camp he would be looking the best. He's at least a knock down shooter.

Fells is infinitely more interesting than either of the Coreys. Magguette is just not a Spur. All he can do is throw himself against people in the paint and hope to get a call. But since when have Spur players gotten a call? I think Manu got a call during the 2007 playoff run. I don't think I've seen it happen since then. And Corey Joseph? People, the guy is so average, and has no upside. We know he can't shoot, and he certainly doesn't have a three ball. Fells looks like he has upside - he's long, active, knows how to dish, and can finish better than Joseph on the break. I have no idea about his shot, but what I'm saying is that if you're going to have a backup PG who can't shoot, I'd rather go with Fells. Joseph scares the crap out of me. That said, I'd play Patty in front of Joseph.

Fells, I'm pretty sure, isn't a PG. So what the f#$% are you talking about? Cory Joseph was much better tonight. I also liked the aggressiveness that Kabongo displayed out there. He was very aggressive getting to the rim, which I like.

Maggette really wasn't good at all tonight. Hopefully, it's just rust, and he starts playing better, if not, then I don't think he is good enough to make the team with the way he's been playing so far.
