It's the system. They had the horses last year to be this effective, but no one bought in. Kobe led that charge which is obviously disappointing but then Dwight followed suit. Hard to blame him tbh as that has to be incredibly frustrating. It was not a perfect group of guys last year for Coach D's system, but they had plenty of guys, that if they played the right way could have been a much more effective team.

I remember people saying they don't have shooters. Many of those same guys this year are hitting 3's like it's going out of style. Even Steve Blake is putting up sick numbers in that system. Now, some of their shooting is fluky and will die down, but for now they play hard, hit 3's and get up and down the court.

some truth, here. But remember last year no training camp. and Meeks has gotten a lot better. Last year his drives to the basket were on a fisher all-time Laker suckage level. dont get me wrong, if it's a clutch lay-up Fisher can sneak one in ... but his 2 on 1 fast breaks or wide open drives were horrible. Meeks has improved his handle so that now even though i dont feel 100% confiden,t he actually is making lay-ups and even has few and 1's. being able to drive at least a JJ re type level ... has made his jumper more effective. Before last season he was like a Steve Kerr but less accurate at hitting open 3's

I hope when kobe return Mike d finds a way to give Meeks at least 6th man minutes. in fact, he should play kobe at sF (unless facing PG/Durant/Lebron) and Meeks at the 2 ...

He's right. They have no real chance with Kobe either. And let's say by some miracle they could squeak into the playoffs with Kobe. They'd be a lower seed with no real shot to win the West and they would miss out on what appears to be a top flight prospect to aide in their rebuilding.

Not saying they would do much with him in the playoffs if they make it, but saying he will totally screw it up is a bit of a stretch.

I agree. I said Kobe is gonna mess up the "tank job" ... not sure if we make it with or without Kobe ... but He decreases the amount of ping-pong balls even if we don't.

Also my point was about Mike d making sure he plays Meeks and Blake even when Kobe and Nash return. Kobe should take away some SF mins ... Meeks and Blake (along with Hill) have been our 3 best players yet Mike D plays them sparingly( reluctantly) at times ...

I think to his credit, he was still tweaking and adjusting the roster, those 3 guys are our best players atm... which is kind of sad.
