ya cuz bonner makes every open layup...
Yeah... cause Bonner goes pick and roll every time. His job is to hit 3's and he does it well. Ayers finishing ablities is suspect at best.

Malcolm Thomas, Aron Baynes > Jeff Ayres
Ayers is better than Baynes. That much is clear. Thomas was in the D league for a reason. People making him in the savior. Last season it was Baynes.

I've seen absolutely nothing from Baynes. Its not like he brings a skill to the table. Its not like he blocks shots or boards like Reggie Evans. He's seems more likely to foul than doing something positive on defense.

Ayers at least is mobile and hustles up and down the floor. He could become a serviceable defender. long arms, athletic. The ability is there.

Unfortunate, but R.C and Pop whiffed on this one.

One of the worst players I've seen play in the league thus far this year.

Hopefully Malcolm Thomas can salvage this.

If I remember correctly it was SA's new assistant coach, Jim Boylen (formerly an assistant coach on IND), that wanted them to acquire Ayres. Without him they probably pass on JA.

We shall see if he can crack the rotation. I'm not saying he can't. Outside of Duncan, Diaw and Twilight, the other 3 each has flaws that currently keep them from being everyday rotation players.

no, it's not there. it hasn't been there all season, it wasn't there in Indiana, and it's not going to magically appear there any time soon. He can't defend, he can't block shots, he can't shoot, he can't dunk, he can't make a layup, he can't pass, he can't catch passes, he gets butt ed in the paint by everyone, and the Spurs lose all momentum when this scrub gets on the court.

yeah, he's mobile aka he has use of his arms and legs. and he hustles up and down the floor? that's what you do in basketball unless your name is Andrew Bynum. Face it, Airs sucks donkey .

I expected to see this thread when I came here. Spurs deserve to be blown out when they play this dip . He's D-league, tons of athleticism, no skills, none. Genetically gifted below the neck, not above.
I'm not even sure his athleticism is all that great either. Ayres missed five dunks in one game. Not to mention, he tore his ACL in his rookie season.

Where is Kurt Thomas? The Bonner/Bogans/Finley hate was fun. This name-changing assclown, I truly cannot stand.

Baynes has never impressed me, tbh, his potential is Aaron Gray, but at this point, players like Baynes and even Thomas should see a few spot minutes if Ayres continues to struggle, tbh..

I don't expect anything from any of these scrubs, but if Ayres continues to struggle, Pop should be open to trying alternatives IMO..he isn't nearly good enough to have a designated spot in the rotation over anybody on an NBA roster, tbh..

They clearly need to package some of the boat load of bums populating the back end of their roster, along with some combination of overseas rights/picks, for a player of at least some level of significance.

Baynes definitely isn't the answer and even in the unlikely event Thomas is, he more than likely won't get the chance to show it anyway. The answer to backup center is Splitter. He needs to be the third big; Duncan's backup and sometimes partner in certain match-ups. The starting PF needs to be either Diaw or some combo forward type acquired via trade. They won't pursue guys like Young, Green or Chandler, because of their contracts, but at least M. Williams then or someone of that ilk. Enough of this big, clunky, late 90s/early 00s style rotation.

I call bull from the mountain tops. He started game 4 (we had won the first 3 games by 15 points) He can defend Dwight Howard with the Spurs sagging off the 3pt line to help that alone makes him better? let that lapse of logic sink in. He went back at Dwight it doesn't make him the 4th best big on the team.

I think Draft Express clocked it at 32 inches. Not bad at all. He missed 5 dunks in a game against the Wizards and its becoming about of his narrative?

Torn ACL in right knee a few years back.
