Who gives a about the stupid record. Peyton Manning just had a 55 TD 5400 Yd season, give the man his props and stop crying over a couple of yards, you wuss.

And this is coming from a Patriots fan. I could have cared less about Brady's record. If he doesn't ring, I'll be here to on him. But Manning had a phenomenal season and even if they took the 7 yards off his totals, he still wins the MVP.

Even when not in direct angle that coffee stain on Brees' face is still so noticeable tbh

I'm simply stating the facts and reporting the news. I haven't cried once about Manning taking the record. he needed more pass attempts and less accuracy to do it, but records are meant to be broken.

however ... this was a huge blown call that needs to be corrected when you consider the fact that it's a history breaking record. if anything Manning is stupid for not staying out there and throwing another completion or two to beat the record by 20-30 yards or so. he was already stat padding with a 4 score lead anyways.

this is like saying "no excuses, but we had injuries."

oh please. did you even watch Manning at all this season? at least a fourth of his touchdowns came in the 4th quarters of games that were already blow outs.

plus Brees did it with less pass attempts than Manning and was more accurate (71.2% compared to 68.3%)
Son I was talking about week 17. Manning hung it up after halftime...Brees was chucking away even with 4 TDs @ halftime, even though he plays next week and Manning doesn't. No one has attempted more passes in the past 4 seasons than Brees.

I don't think the NFL should take that record away from Manning. While I don't think it really matters to Peyton all that much, the NFL is walking a very thin rope with it's fans due to all the dumb ing rules they've put in place, now to take away a record from a guy that is so well like all around the country when they did the Raiders a favor by not not playing him at all in the 2nd half seems sort of foolish.

Drew Brees is pretty popular as well, why should he be denied his record because the league screwed up?

Passing yards is the most irrelevant record I can think of and just a product of the new NFL. It's gonna be broken probably 5 more times in the next few years. We've had seven of the eight 5000+ yards seasons in the past 5 years.

Because the league screws up all the time and they don't go back and "fix" it.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. I think the TD mark is far more impressive so it wouldn't bother me one way or the other. My thought process is all the sudden "Peyton" fans that I talk to nowadays, I feel like they would be the one's in the uproar.

As an aside, it's obnoxious as to see all the Broncos fans that have suddenly appeared over the last year. They all say the same thing, "I'm really just a big Peyton fan".

Peyton would have padded it some more if the record had not been broken on a TD pass. I think the novelty of him throwing a TD on the same play is what caused him to not pad it. Oh the irony if the NFL pulls the record.

If they do pull it, it just provides people like myself and HarlemHeat more fuel for our hatred of John Fox.

This is true, these records have more to do with Goodell and the owners pussifying the league and banning defense than anything the players are doing, tbh....

1984 Marino is still the greatest season by a quarterback ever.... he put up the kind of video-game numbers we expect nowadays in his second year in the league, in an era when defense was still allowed....

This is completely true. 48 TD's in 1984 is far more impressive than anything Manning or Brady or Brees has done over the past 10 years.

Truth bombs. people acting like Peyton didn't stat pad just as much as 2011 Brees or 2007 Brady.

All 3 QBs vultured touchdowns when they didn't need to, ran a no huddle passing offense when they didn't need to, and are not in any way comparable to Marino's 5,000 yard season when corners were allowed to cover and when teams didn't go no huddle the entire game with 3+ WR formations.

Agreed. What Marino did in '84 was ridiculous. Marino only attempted 564 passes that year (89th most for a season )

I remember Marino's 1984 season. He was an absolute phenomenon that year. No one had ever seen any QB put up anywhere near those kinds of numbers. He not only broke but destroyed (by 12 TDs) a passing-touchdown record that had stood for more than two decades. Incredible.
