Gasol would fit perfectly if Duncan were to retire...
Can you imagine the Thunder with Gasol instead of Perk? My god they would be scary.
No. No one in their right minds would come to the boring city of San Antonio to play for a fool's gold team.
He could go play with his brother..$$.. We can't pay him what he will get. $$ .that simple..$$$$ .some one has to go first......
Pau will most likely look for one last big paycheck. If he can't get that, he'll look to play with his brother in Memphis. I doubt that Spurs are even on his radar.
Pau and Tim offensively would be a good fit but they would struggle mightily guarding the P&R
Neither can defend PFs effectively...Gasol won his championships at center. Tim's been a center for years.
trade him for ter
Gasol is kind of a pussy, an old one at that, and we have enough of those types. Spurs could really use a mofo like Cousins.
After next season you mean, assuming nobody retires.
Assuming we can unload Ayres (big if) and some other filler contracts and keep Diaw for around $5 million, there would only be around $5 million to give Pau, which won't do the trick (on edit, StoryTellerContracts had wrong total $'s).
Duncan / Gasol
Splitter / Diaw
That's a very versatile bigman rotation. I don't think that playing from the bench would be a problem for Duncan or Gasol, because they would play with quality players like Manu, Diaw and Beli.
We don't have him, how can we trade him?
Am I the only one who thinks they'd work on the floor at the same time? Both can score in the post, both have range, how does that not work offensively?
Duncan doesn't exactly suck playing Center either. He's pretty good at it. I can see it working. . .the only issue would be the lack of athleticism against speedy teams.
Gasol would have been a dream about 2 seasons ago even though he was tailing off his peak. He's still decent in an effective role and he can space the floor and has length, not a great defender but good enough.... a of a lot better than Ayres, Bonner. He'd be really effective with the offensive in PnR situations, pick n pop and rolling hard to the basket. More international intelligence.
