George was great. The Tribute DVD after his death hosted by Eric Clapton featuring George's son was really a great concert.
You owe it to yourself to see it if you haven't.

I ing hate this song.
Some asshole would load the jukebox in the high school cafeteria with quarters and play this song over and over and over day after day after day. It was maddening. I finally started just grabbing a honeybun and a DP and going out to the football field to smoke dope. Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me
He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me
Any song played over and over like that will drive anyone crazy.
Good song though otherwise.
George and John rising from the dead.
Come Together and Hey Jude (with the 15 minute chorus) are probably my least faves
Same here, too long. And my least favorite album is the White Album.
That's the nice answer!![]()
Sounds as fresh today….
This thread makes me wanna drop some acid.
It makes me wanna drink some warm milk and go to bed![]()
What?
You don't like the Beatles?
No LSD???
What about milk w/ LSD?
![]()
Ha, no LSD for me, with or without milk! The Beatles are okay, I'm just not a big fan. I do prefer their earliest work.
There we sat, there were four of us at the drive-in, on the big screen...Barbarella. We had two tabs of Orange Wedge, we'd already taken a razor blade and made the split back at the park. So with a hot beer(Fisher. all we could afford) as a chaser we all dropped a half a tab. After about a half hour....
Dave..I think we gut ripped off.
Steve...no !
me...we should have hit Turk up instead.
Juan...I don't know man, anyone smell oranges?
Then it began to hit. Your legs feel like they weigh a ton, key word.....distortion. You know what things are but they don't look, smell or feel the same. On half a tab that is. We all ended up getting horny over Jane Fonda, we turned the speaker off and listened to a rock radio station. Yep, we did the background vocals, if there actually were any back ground vocals. I remember looking over at Dave (driver) and seeing a turtle looking back (he was wearing a turtleneck sweater), then he grinned, turtles don't grin.
After the show we started getting paranoid, we were out of gas.
Didn't like Hey Jude at all. Don't know why it was such a huge hit, record of the year 1968. Yellow Submarine is another one I never liked.
The Beatles had some great songs but many sickening ones also that you just got tired hearing .
Ticket To Ride is a great song.
they had a lot of lesser songs that I liked better than many of their hits. Like I'll Be Back , No Reply, You're Going To Lose That Girl, I Need You, The Night Before, And Your Bird Can Sing, What You're Doing, Run For Your Life.
I agree with all of that. I think Hey Jude made a big hit because because it had the ability to cross generations---the tripped out flower child hippy AND his stuffy WASP parents could both enjoy. That was rare at the time.
Chronologically, my Beatles interest really wanes right after Eleanor Rigby (their best song imho). I don't know why. I love the growly, rockabilly stuff and the super sweet, croony stuff just melts me!
That's George singing. They were such bad boys![]()
Loved all their early stuff but they lost my interest from the White Album on until grabbing me again with their Abby Road album.
The only album released between The White Album and Abbey Road was the soundtrack album for Yellow Submarine.
