Definitely a questionable decision by the coach.
His 1st foul for just fighting with KD for position in the post and his 3rd foul for a screen on Ibaka were probably the worst two foul calls I've seen on a Spurs player this season tbh
If they're going to call that then Pop might as well put Danny on KD because Kawhi would foul out by the end of the 3rd tbh.
Definitely a questionable decision by the coach.
Except against us. Go check the box scores.
IF you are including technical fouls in that, Tim's was worse.
Leonard doesn't need more minutes, he needs his teammates to play better. I thought Tim and Tiago played a bit soft. Ibaka and Perkins got physical and they didn't respond. blaming the refs too, the playoffs will be no time to cry about that stuff. I noticed Tim get pushed around and was slow to get back on D once he missed his shots. They know they can't afford to do that against the Thunder and this game was a nice wake-up call. It was the perfect loss, tbh. It will keep the Spurs focused and hungry.
His third foul was so re ed that it actually made Kawhi smile
hard to play more mins when the nba is whistling you out of the game so durbeta can shine at home in front of his adoring fans.
I get it. He couldn't play Durant aggressively while trying not to pick up a 4th foul in the first 8 minutes of the 3rd. It did allow Westbrook to get red hot with Green switching onto Durant.
I am interested in Diaw or even Daye matching up on KD for a stretch. Leonard simply can't guard Durant all game (especially in OKC). There is always that chance Kawhi gets into foul trouble.
If the Thunder go small late I'd love to see the Spurs play Parker, Manu, Leonard, Diaw and Duncan. Force Durant to guard Diaw in the post or have Butler try to stop Kawhi.
