NBA players have super-human genetics that have enabled them to become millionaires..

90% of them would either be dead, in jail or working a minimum wage job without their genes, obviously..

The greatest player of all-time has shown virtually no ability to successfully translate his athletic/basketball background to a front office job that requires intelligence..
Lebron James is walking proof of that. However, a lot of NBA players aren't as dumb as you think.

Lebron isn't the most intelligent person, I wouldn't say otherwise..

And sure, there are plenty of intelligent NBA players(Gasol, for instance), but the majority are morons..

Chuck plays the odds. Odds are against any one team making the Finals. I'd bet against it too, but not "for" any particular team except maybe OKC. I think OKC has what it takes, but they match up poorly with the Heat.

I'd have to disagree. They wouldn't do well in the private sector outside of the NBA, however they have managed to maintain and improve themselves and parlay that to a lump sum that would allow them to retire after just a few years if they were conservative. Most aren't so it seems they are just stupid, but they hang with guys who are also rich, so it's all relative. Only Matt Bonner conserves his money, but then cannot even get a shoe deal.

There are a ton of guys out there who are 6'8+ who play ball and couldn't get a shot at a D league team.

Their ability to generate money is directly related to more intelligent people(agents, marketer, lawyers, etc) benefiting by putting the players in positions to make their own money, though, which wouldn't be available if they didn't have the super-human genetics IMO..

    Cocaines a uva drug...

Spurs should have no problem beating them in 5 or maybe 6. No way a team that ranks 17 in defense would advance to the conference finals. The top teams in the west are at least in the top 12 in both categories.

    (Offensive Rtg & Defensive Rtg)

    Spurs 4th & 5th

    Clippers 2nd & 7th

    Thunder 7th & 5th

    Houston 4th & 12th

last season 4 teams that made it to the conference finals were no worse than 7th (Miami)

To follow up on my previous comments, this article was released today, here's an excerpt:

Based on data from those requests and dozens of interviews, a CNN investigation revealed that most schools have between 7% and 18% of revenue sport athletes who are reading at an elementary school level. Some had even higher percentages of below-threshold athletes.

That is clearly the perception whether than fact. For some reason people think the NBA is full of morons. Yet the NHL & MLB, are full brilliant minds.

    just ignore him man

At the end of the day, I'd take playing a basketball game over student loans 100/100 times.

    ^^who argued otherwise?..

I never argued that NBA players should get an education..their NBA job is more than adequate to set them up for life, financially..I'm happy for every NBA making loot and blowing the on strippers, diamonds and whips, tbh, you only have 1 life, enjoy it..

My argument is that most NBA players are stupid and have careers based entirely on their super-human genes, which isn't debatable..

I know you guys like to rag on those who listen to what Barkley says about the Spurs but notice how he keeps bringing up how Memphis beat us in '11 while conveniently ignoring the fact that we swept them in the WCF last year? Kenny Smith and Shaq and Ernie johnson, none of them call him out on that. It just shows how ignorant he is about the game other than the games he's watching on TNT.

    He's a TV personality

The outlier and stupid predictions thing is his shtick. If he were a poster on this forum he would probably be the spursdynasty here. When he's right he sure gets a lot of fellatio for it, and even when he's wrong its kind of like "Oh its Chuck just being wrong again..."
