Most of those players came out of the draft for their teams...generally after rebuilding efforts and/or nightmare seasons. Even Shaq to L.A. and Lebron to Miami took assets and careful planning...neither of which the Lakers currently seem to possess.
I'm chill. Lakers should be on a 3 year plan. Kobe's contract will be gone. He doesnt like it. Oh well. Problem restless Lakers fans are not being realistic wanna sign Melo. Even IF melo came that is not a le team. Why pay non-LEGIT superstars SUPERSTAR $? Worse thing you can do in new CBA: None of these guys are max and are getting it:

    1. Kobe
    2. Dwill
    3. Dwight
    4. Joe johnson
    5. Drose
    6. Harden
    7. Amare
    8. Melo
There are more but you get the point ...

Good to great players but they are all being paid on past performance. Only Durant and Lebron are being paid max or near it and earning that THIS season. With new CBA mistakes like that are even more costly.

Good for Kobe. He's held up his end of the log.

Nuh uh. Daddy, MVPau, Odom, Horry, Fisher - they held up their end of the log. Kirby is too busy donning the quit bag to hold up the log.

s who quit 2 years in a row prior the the post season are not compe ive. Kobe is greedy, self absorbed, not compe ive. Calling him compe ive is like calling a 3 year old compe ive because he won't let other kids play with his toys. Compe ive people do what it takes to win. Kobe does what makes him feel better about himself, and "winning" to him means something different than it does to the team.

I wonder if Kobe will allow a 'retiring' process?
I wonder how far I'll get before you lodge something crooked to the left of (&). We're at 46. Give me a number, Place owner.

Nothing is possible at this juncture. Dat contract killed any hopes for building a championship team on the fly.

Even with a favorable salary cap, the Lakers simply cannot hang with the best anymore with the quality of free agents entering this summer. Who are they going to sign? Greg Monroe? Bledsoe? Melo? Bosh? Give me "8th seed at best" for $400 please

Personally, I just hope they land a Top 3 pick this year. You can't aspire for anything else. Build from that and hope another big time FA joins the band. Otherwise, braise yourself for a long ass drought,
There's no Shaq or Phil coming in that door

I'm still shocked that so many Lakers fans believe their current team has any talent, tbh..

If Nick Young is one of your top players, and you're paying 20+ mil a year for a player that is no longer a viable top 2 option, your GM is doing an awful job, tbh..

My D'Antoni is earning his money, though, I hope he coaches the Spurs once Pop retires, tbh..
I like D'antoni, those Suns were underrated, but you want him after Pop? What about the D?

Bledsoe would be a good pickup, since he could stick around for the long term as well. still, they have no bigs

these Lakers are a team of that is composed of:

    - Unwanted vets
    - Washed-up vets
    - Bonafide scrubs
    - A collection of D-Leaguers

It would take 2-3 years of smart choices (like Kupchak from 07-08) to turn around the fortunes of this team to seriously contend.

Kobe trying to #amnesia the entire season is disrespectful to the guys that had to go out every night even though THEY had no help from him. What a teammate this guy is. Are he and gasol still brothas, or did Kobe quit on that too?

Someone is going to really regret the contract they give Bledsoe this summer.

i'm actually sold on bledsoe if he has a strong coach that can reel him in a little. i think once he actually gets paid, he might be less selfish, since he won't be playing for his own contract at that point

2-3 years? Nah man. Absolute best-case scenario is you guys draft Embiid or Wiggins and he develops into an MVP level player quickly. Then you make really smart draft picks and get some luck. A couple of good vets with the cap space. Basically, we're talking the OKC scenario, which is as good as it gets. Draft a first ballot Hall of Famer in Durant, make really good picks in Westbrook, Ibaka, Harden, get a lockdown defender in Sefalosha. And with all of that it was still four years before they made a conference finals in 2011 after a complete rebuild in the summer of 07.
