Meh...I'll stick with Sony...Bill Gates doesn't need to get any richer...
true, but Billy boy sure does know his technology, maybe I'll pick up a PS3 also if they have more exclusive games... i was really close to getting a PS2 just for the Grand Theft Auto series, but then Xbox got it.. thank God

I'm flattered by your grown man comment, I'm sure Kori might be smiling or laughing about that one too.

It's ing obvious video games are mostly intended for kids, and nintendo has beaten everyone else in that department, that doesn't mean however that, that's all they do.

    Nintendo will never "retire".

Sega was not smart by doing it.. they were smart by merging with Nintendo.

    You know .
I assumed you were a grown man because of your previous and more mature posts, but now I know I'm wrong. I know that video games were once a childs toy, but you do know that the target market for video game companies is the 18-25 demographic. you have to be kidding me by saying that the gamecube is better than the PS2 and Xbox.

Sega wasn't smart about "retiring"? They were losing money on every Dreamcast they were selling. And now they put out the NBA2k and NFL2k series on every platform in addition to the Sonic series? Yeah thats not smart.

You assume my posts aren't mature because I'm disagreeing with you..

    that's pretty mature.

The gamecube was always better than the Xbox...the PS2 beat it's sales because of the GTA series, and the first person shooters.

I recall alot of people buying the dreamcast and waiting for games on it. People were buying the console. When the owner and founder of Sega died, he gave his company away to a family member, and he merged it for better sales.

The founder would've done alot of good things for Sega, but he isn't he anymore...the legacy can't do the same.

    again you misunderstand...
it didn't matter that you disagree or agree. what was immature is that you made your point in a very good way and then had to add in "your comments are stupid".

I know quite a few people bought the dreamcast, i was one of them, i think i bought it for $200 at release date and a couple of years later it was already at $49.99. When Sega stopped making them because they were losing more than $50 on each one, I was glad, so then they could concentrate on making games that were worthwhile.

attacking someone because you disagree is what made you look immature, get it? got it? good? finally.

    ???
never took a math class, huh?

it cost sega $100 to make a dreamcast.... got it so far?
it cost us $50 to buy one.... still with me?
that means they were losing $50 everytime a dreamcast was sold..... wow, its crazy huh?

i mean if it cost you $10 in supplies to bake a cake, would you sell it for $5?

i hope to God you understand, if not.......oh well

I'm waiting till the PS3 comes out, I'm more than postive they'll raise the bar to meet the 360 capabilities. Since they've always had more and better games, i'll wait.

thats the good thing about the console wars, they compete by making the newer ones better, in the end, the gamer wins. except nintendo doesn't understand this concept, their console is coming out later, but won't compare to xbox 360 or ps3, power wise, from what i heard. since ps3 will be backwards compatible, they'll always have more games than the xbox or xbox 360, which is a very good thing.

the ps3 coming out later is an advantage anyway, it gives you more time to save for it, since the rumor is it'll be in the $500-$600 dollar range, which i hope is just a rumor.

I am a grown man that plays video games and owns a Gamecube. I play games to have fun. Just because you have fun with games like GTA or Halo, not everyone does.
Nintendo being kiddy is just a bad stereotype. One that caused them to make Mario Sunshine too hard (least for me). But with games like Metroid, Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness (a hidden gem) they have quite a few les that appeal to older gamers.

Nintendo has a consistently profitable business model.
They will not be leaving the console business unless the Revolution is a commercial flop. We don't know enough about it to gauge that possibility right now.

good for you, i just prefer the non-nintendo library of games. of course nintendo is too kiddy. too much pokemon and donkey for my tastes, but if you like those kind of games, cool. i would choke on my soda the day nintendo releases a GTA type of game! i enjoy the old-school scroller from time to time also and i enjoy the new zeldas too.

never heard of Eternal Darkness, i might have to check that out, is it enough of a reason to buy a gamecube though? they must be pretty cheap now with all the newer consoles coming out soon. the reason i like the xbox and ps2 is that i just enjoy realism(ghost recon, splinter cell, stuff like that) Collecting coins and saving the princess again and again just gets a little old for me, but i can't say they're not fun.

I'm just stating my opinion because of that other guy who was adamant about the gamecube being better than both the xbox and the ps2 and thats just ridiculous, you have to agree with that, right? i'm not wanting nintendo to fail, because everyone knows that compe ion makes it better for the consumer.

A system is only as good as its games. And we obviously do not agree on what a good game is.
If you are talking power and capabilities, the Gamecube is on par with the Xbox. Both are more powerful than the PS2. It is just hard to see it because multi-console games start as PS2 games and then get ported. PS2 just has a larger customer base.

As far as Eternal Darkness, since you should be able to get a used Gamecube for $50 and a used copy of this for $15, yeah I would say it is pretty much worth it. I paid $50 bucks just for the game and found it worth the money.

no, i agree, i'd rather have a great game with so-so graphics, than a so-so game with great graphics. if you're right about the gamecube being on par with the xbox powerwise, then do they not use it to its full potential? cause i go to gamestop often to check out all the systems and nothing on the gamecube really caught my eye graphically.

1995 called, they wanted to say thanks for remembering them.

The largest gaming market is the 18-34 year old market aka Adults.

More adults now play video games than children.

Nintendo with it's games is intended to reach the children market and the "I still love Nintendo with all my heart" adult market.
While XBox and PS have targeted the more adult and mature audience looking for games that fit their liking.

Games and game consoles are no longer targeted for young children, those days are long gone.

Sorry, but the best I can tell all Sony had going for it with the PS2 was the GTA series, and the Final Fantasy type .

All I care about are FPShooter games, and sports. On which XBox matches up fine with, even better than IMO thanks to the Halo series.

I've also heard that the PS2 will be on the order of $150-200 more than the 360. For basically the same performance, that.

Graphics wise, No I do not think the Gamecube reached its full potential. The third party les made specifically for the Gamecube look great. Resident Evil 4 comes to mind. Unfortunately, Nintendo does not prioritize visuals with their own releases. I am expecting the new Zelda released later this year to be different though.

The PS2 had a lot more games worth buying then the XBOX. Take Halo away and Microsoft would have shut that division down a year after launch.
The XBOX does have the better online game network.

Of course, I own neither. So this is from what I've read and heard.

Likewise, noone owns a PS2,360 or Revolution yet. Not much has been revealed about the Revolution, so I cannot comment much on it. What worries me about the fight between Microsoft and Sony is the different mediums being proposed. The 360 is supposed to be HD-DVD and the PS3 is supposed to be Blu-ray. If one of these becomes the standard some people are going to end up with a very expensive game machine that won't be the Home Entertainment Console that it was sold as.

In what way? Please tell me you don't buy the 'Cell' hype. A reputable tech industry group has already done enough research to come to the conclusion their performance will be a wash.

not very smart to buy a console because of the name, buy it for the games. and just because the PS3 will be more powerful, doesn't mean it'll be better. for example, i was still playing and enjoying my nes, when the "super powerful" jaguar came out, look how the "more power" was succesful in that regard!

i assumed it was basically a rule for the console makers to make theirs more powerful if it comes out later, but nintendo is taking a big risk by not putting more power in their "revolution"

    examples:
    i don't like playstation, because it's from japan, i'm pro-America
i don't want an xbox, because i don't want to fatten Bill Gates pockets anymore

I'll go with PS, why? Well, with the release of the PSX it was the most sold console EVER and even had the game that sold the most games EVER. With the release of the PS2, it beat the X-BOX and the Gamecube both in Video game/console sales. Sure it was the weaker of the two hardware wise, but it gave a wide genre of games that everybody could play, so you could try out everything, unlike the Box with FPS/Sports mostly and the GC with games suitable for kids under 12. So with Sony's history of a successful line of consoles, I'll go with Sony because of there assurance.
