Kawhi made the second team.
I doubt that, Game 1, Wade was unstoppable. Popovich and Green made their adjustment and made him get out of his comfort zone. Green also got up to his chest a lot.
Green won't get any attention from the media, but he defended Wade as well as anyone could hope. Hopefully Green and Leonard keep developing defensively and become lock down wing defenders. I loved watching Wade get a screen only to have Leonard switch on him. Wade didn't even have a chance of seeing daylight.
Of course he would, when the Heat were able to force that matchup a couple times in the series after turnovers, Green immediately intentionally fouled.
Green is a top notch defender and deserves a ton of recognition, but whoever says he's better then Leonard is either overrating him or underrating Leonard. Leonard is elite, already 2nd team all NBA defense team, and will be considered for DPOY next year after the media saw him in these finals.
Wade was pretty good against Indiana, averaging 19.8 PPG on 54.5% shooting. Verde dropped him to 15.2 PPG on 43.8% shooting. It's unfortunate he missed those two open threes in Game 5 so that the national media forgot how great he was this entire playoffs.
Green only intentionally fouled James once (and that was on the break). He guarded him very well. It'd just be too exhausting for him to do it a whole game, due to the size disadvantage.
Did anyone else notice during Pop's speech in the locker room that he said something to the effect of "Thanks for letting me coach you guys, it's been....and I've been a real pain in the ass yelling at you all the time..." and all the players looked and pointed at Danny. Then Pop and Danny hugged.
I hope Danny is one of those guys that never leaves the Spurs. Hes been so good for us. In so many ways HE is the next Bruce Bowen - not Kawhi Leonard. Danny was the scrap heap guy that we picked up, developed, and turned into a player that the world now knows - not unlike Mr. Bowen. Kawhi on the other hand would have been great in many other systems and many other teams (although, maybe not a champion).
Green's playoffs numbers are just ridiculous, tbh..
And people here didn't think he could handle the playoffs because of a bad series against okc in 2012.
65% True Shooting(which is ridiculous), 16.5 PER, 3rd or 4th best net on/off on the team in the playoffs, and great defense against Westbrook/Durant and Wade..
Green and Timmy's rim protection destroyed Wade.
And for 1 play at least so did Tiago!![]()
That's really hard to do for a defensive specialist.
Yep..the Spurs had 8 rotation players above the average PER, most in history for a playoff team..disgusting, tbh..
Calm down Spurs fans
Green was good, but Wade was too
Green still s on Parker, though
