No, they can't build around Bryant, because he isn't a building block. His game is selfish, and his at ude drives players out of town. To top it off, he isn't that good (anymore or at all; doesn't really matter how you view that). He's injured and was easy enough to shut down even he played recently.
It's extremely hard to build a le team around a wing in the first place. The fact that the Lakers are still giving the keys to the franchise to an old, injured wing with an inflated opinion of themselves means they're throwing the next two years (at least) down the toilet.
