    Gotta say.....Kyle Anderson didn't even work out for the Spurs. We only drafted him because he was the 'best available,' Not because he was the best fit. We needed a back-up SF who is athletic and can play D. Not SloMo....

    This guys nickname is "Slow mo". I guess his ceiling is probably a Boris Diaw. But I think even BD was an athlete in his younger days.

    I don't understand what people want. 50% of the second round is a bunch of clones - 6'5" wing guys who will be no better than a guy you can sign off the street. The other half will never leave Europe.

    We all want lots of things. The Spurs know what they are doing more than you do. Anderson is not going to be the same player after playing for one year in our system. Everybody improves as a result of being on this team so I am not worried. I know he is going to get better especially when he has coaches and teammates willing to help him get better. Have a little faith man. We did just win a championship you know?

    Defensive problems --> We have Green/Leonard to make up for it.
    Poor Athletism --> Spurs never build on athletism.

    Great Passer --> Sounds like a "Spur" to me.
    Good spotup shooter --> dito
    Smart Player --> dito

    Maybe a small ball 4 --> Spurs love versatility.

    Well, Patric Young never got drafted. He's a 6'9" athletic kid that can jump and has good pretty good D. Not much offense and low FT% though.

    We, are you a member of the Spurs. Spurs have the MLE and BAE to address needs via FA. This was about getting a player that fits the System. And they got one. I wanted the Spurs to try and get Saric, but surprisingly, Philly got him with a lottery pick even though he won't come over for 2 years. But they got a guy that is equivalent and actually a better passer.

    I didn't think Anderson would be there at 30. I thought he would be gone by the 15-20 pick range.

    One of Daye's greatest assets to his game is passing ability. Pop and RC put together a team that put on display some of the most beautiful basketball many pros had ever seen - as many stated as much. Yet, so many of you seem to want them to find a Westbrook at #30. It boggles the mind. That's not how we got here.
    Come on, passing isn't the whole reason why the Spurs won. Before they got Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard the team was in desperate need of some athleticism on the wing, so I am not sure I totally agree with all you guys that keep saying passing is the only reason they won the championship.

    The two best players in the NBA are SFs that can also play PF. You need somewhat decent athletes to be able to defend these guys. I sure hope the Spurs aren't thinking of defending either of those guys with someone like Anderson, or just abandoning defense all together and trying to win with ball movement and offense.

    The Spurs still need someone that can be a decent backup to Kawhi. I'd like that person to be somewhat athletic, they don't have to be Westbrook athletic, but if they're going to have any chance to defend against SFs like Lebron and Durant (even in spot minutes), I think they need to have some athletic ability to stand a chance. Hopefully they just want Anderson as a Diaw type of player, and they are looking to get Kawhi a decent backup through free agency.

    I agree with this, but as the saying goes, "Sometimes a great defense, is a great offense." And in the Spurs case this is entirely true.

    Like Spoelstra stated in Game 2 press conference, that the Heat would have to play 4 quarters of high intensity D to beat the Spurs. Wasn't happening. They attempted to, but that in turn greatly inhibited their play on the offensive end as they were gassed most of the game.

    If not for Lebron and his 3 quarter heroics, the Heat would have lost by 30 the last 3 games. Not one Spurs player is an over the top athletic guy, well not at this point (Manu use to be). But almost every single one, except Ayres, has a high BB IQ. And that is how they beat the Heat and the Thunder.

    I like this pick, he reminds me of Ice.
    I don't know how you fix slow poor lateral foot speed though.
    But if any team can do it, the Spurs can.

    Yes, yes I do. Scrubs.
    Actually no you dont. Do you know how many athletic players have washed out in the NBA??? Tons, sometimes fundamentals is what wins championships..........AKA Timmy. Also, look at Boris as well as Zak Randolph. You are telling me you you would take Zaks totally nonathletic ass right now if we could get him??

    Gee whiz. Why are people here acting like athleticism doesn't matter at all?

    If you were to take Kawhi and Danny off the team, how far do you think the Spurs would have gotten with that ball movement? Manu is probably still the third most athletic guy on the team and he was huge in round 1.

    I would take Andersons passing ability over an athletic niggra any day. He fits completely into our offense. So please STFU haters that dont understand a dayum thing about winning it all like Spurs management.

    You prove our point............Spurs arguably the fewest athletic guys on an NBA team and we whooped that ass. You cant win on athleticism alone. You gotta have skills to niggra.

    It does, nobodies negating that. In order to make it to the NBA, you have to have some athleticism. But I value High BB IQ over extreme athleticism. If they have both, that would be great. You will have DRob, Jordan, Hakeem, Lebron, etc. type of player; players that don't come around too often.

    But I remember on this board when people wanted to replace Green b/c he couldn't dribble and was athletic enough to slash to the basket. But he has shown that having just enough athleticism, training hard and having a high BB IQ will allow to succeed in the NBA.

    He was cut from the Cavs, that tells you all you need to know what 29 other teams around the league thought of Green.
