Probably
Camp body -> Toros body
the fact they're stockpiling assets for the D-League though...not to make mountains out of molehills but they could be insurance policies if and when they decide to ship someone's ass out
Spurs usually raid other d-league teams for talent. DGreen, Othyus Jeffers, Garrett Temple, and Steve Novak all came from other d-league teams. The only callup I can remember from the Toros who spent more than a 10 day was Hairston.
The Spurs have gone out of their way to bring everyone back. Unless there is a team that makes them a STUPID good offer, they'll roll into the playoffs with the team that leaves camp.
The Spurs' predilection to raid the bargain bin is well-do ented, but I think it's the first time they're locking up more than one D-League prospect, the most notable being Josh Howard, whom they signed and released after whiffing on Corey Maggette. I wasn't talking about shipping out cogs from the championship rotation but more like the end-of-the-bench guys (not going to drop names because some people might take offense). Besides, even if it weren't sensible, it's still possible they trade anyone from the team not named Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, or Leonard. There still are teams that make stupid good offers.
Wow putting your arguments in bold makes your argument look stronger. Kind of makes me look like a smartass too.
So, you responded to my post, and then dropped an additional post for snarking purposes? I'll have to remember that one.
Oh no, threats from the internet![]()
Ayres - 6' 8.75" 6' 10" 240 7' 1" 8' 11" 5.5 31.0 35.0
J.Green- 6' 8" 6' 9" 217 7' 2.25" 8' 10.5" 9.8 29.5 32.5
Just watched some clips of him and he seems to have a lot more mobility and length than Ayres.
He definitely has a 1.25" advantage over Ayres in winspan and just .5" less standing reach. Green also seems to have better shooting and a better handle.
If Green is a replacement for Ayres, then I'm definitely all for it. I don't know exactly what the staff so in Ayres.
I love it!!!!!!!
That's some beautiful work!
there's more than one JMG vid.
He looks awfully good to me, post up, crashing boards, rebounding, short and long jumpers, for 6.9" ???. Why hasn't somebody signed him before now?
As a hustle guy, JaMychal Green is as good as it gets. In the Summer League he had so many put back dunks, so many aggressive rebounds, steals, and blocks...all that good stuff.
But the Spurs run a system, and I have no idea where JaMychal Green fits in offensively. Can he shoot 3's? Can he hit that mid-range jumper that he so rarely took during Summer league? Can he play in the post despite giving 4-5 inches to whoever is in there guarding him? I dunno. He's got to find his niche offensively, and it's going to be difficult without having any particular area of skill besides trying hard and hustling. I like him and want him to succeed, but every Spur has to be a threat offensively in order to help space the floor. And I don't know if JaMychal Green can do that right now. I hope he works on that 3 ball a lot this summer...
The Spurs don't usually rely on their PF or C to make 3s (with the notable exception of Bonner). But he boxes out and gets those rebounds that we need from a big. He seems to have that permanent motor that gives him a lot of put backs and moves pretty good off the pick and roll--against SL compe ion.
I hope he makes it because I love a guy who hustles like that kid, but he'll have to beat out a veteran like Ayers or Bonner to stay with the team.
Give this man a chance
He'll have plenty of chances...in Austin.
We kept Errors, assistant coach Bonner, "baptized by Howard" Baynes, and Gaye...
But waived JaMychal. RC Buford, GM of the year![]()
FYI, Baynes made Howard his two seasons ago in the first round of the playoffs. I do think Ayres is terrible and would be willing to give Green a shot, but Baynes and Bonner are valuable players for the Spurs in certain matchups when the team is at full strength.
THIS!!!!!
Maybe after he heals up.
