Watching Daye brick it up today had me wondering about Matty. I kinda feared this news.
Daye looks bad so what do you do? Continue to live with Bonner while preachin Bertans isn't ready. Stupid!
Just kidding. Not even resigning this guy could dampen mymood and outlook on this Summer. Hopefully he spends most of his time in a suit as a player coach though tbqh.

or else he would be overpaid
Yes. Now he can play quality minutes when Duncan is on the bench.
I feel like it's his final season in the NBA anyway. He's probably taking on the Juwan Howard role.
Honestly, I'd be COMPLETELY cool with this if we somehow got rid of Ayres. Get rid of Ayres (don't care how...I'll take a 2017 2nd round pick at this point), re-sign Baynes, and then try to get one other guy who can contribute this year.
I know we just won the le, but the West is only getting tougher. I'd really like to get at least one other guy that can help us improve.
And that affects the Spurs how?
I hated Bonner at $4 million a year, but at $1.45 million it's a good signing.
Ugh we can't get rid of this guy,
we havent overpaid a player so far this offseason
What would it matter if they did?
that the fo dont overpay players...
I will never understand everyone's issue with bonner, especially the last 2 years where he's barely played. He's a great end of bench player to use in certain matchups and is an extremely underrated defender when put on the right guys. He has given Randolph problems in the past and even Blake in some games if I remember correctly. I'm happy to have him back
I'd rather Matt Bonner over Ayers any dam day of the week!
the toothpaste tube goes in the trash, and there was at least one more tooth brush left in it.
Welcome back you sandwich eating mother er. Now lets sign Marion or Aminu.![]()
Bonner is a great pawn for Pop to have at his disposal.....I can stomach another season of Bill Schoening saying "splash landing for the red rocket". He knows his role, spaces the floor, has corporate knowledge, seems to be well-enough liked by the team and can be a bit aggressive sometimes. 1.45 mil. No brainer.
So in 8/9 years with the Spurs, no player has been found to be good enough to take his position?![]()
This isn't a bad move for the vet minimum.
Good deal. Red Mamba bringing his talents and his 4 inch vertical leap to the Riverwalk
"End of the bench guy"
Thats the problem, you pointed it out yourself.
Either him or Ayres will be in the rotation next year.. That's the problem (not even bringing up the 4.5M/yr signing)
Didn't seem to be a problem this past season.
He was never in the rotation last year. If you're thinking about the OKC series.. He spaced the floor. That's it. Didint hit half the shots he got, and the NBA + euro league knows if you close in on him he'll drive in and brick a floater
