"Thinking Luis Scola was going to be the difference between a championship and what the 2008-11 Spurs actually accomplished. Those teams weren't winning a le with or without him.
If Scola would have joined the Spurs it would have been summer 2005... maybe we win in '06... maybe we lose in '07. We wouldn't have drafted Splitter and we wouldn't have brought over Oberto.
Scola never won a le himself and never was an all star caliber player. So doubt it."
clearly these. I mean winning a championship is difficult, it's only accomplished through a science that might as well be magic to us forum fans. Scola is not an all star caliber guy. , he isn't even the role player that Splitter or Oberto are. Maybe he woulda been a little better as a spur? Maybe the spurs woulda been a little better with him? Maybe not? Ultimately, you have to put the past aside. It is more important to realize that Pop and the FO are master magicians. They makes gold appear from thin air. And Scola isn't gold.
Screw Scola, if only we had kept Paul George![]()
With the Spurs, Scola would have become a Manu like NBA player.
He is one of the most smart players of his generation. You guys have no idea of how sick it would be if this guy had played together in the NBA with Manu, Duncan and Parker.
Don't forget that Scola also played with Splitter. Back then they were a dominant front court in Spain and reached the EuroLeague semi finals with a team that had only about 50% of the budget of the true contenders. It is like a NBA team reaching the conference finals with a 30 million dollars payroll now days.
What?
Scola would have been a 15 ppg guy on the Spurs. He might have even stolen an All-star spot one of those years.
Scola = over rated just like the lame ass threads in this forum.
maybe, i guess he's been pretty good on those pacers. and i remember him being a pretty nightmarish rocket too, especially against the spurs? but it doesn't matter, those teams never won championships. he was never an all star. the spurs did fantastic without him. I mean Blair and McD really challenged Splitter hard, and Splitter and the spurs are better for it. And what was the timeframe of when Scola woulda been a spur anyways? I mean, who can think of the past with that detail. Why play woulda coulda shoulda? Don't be a spoiled spurs fan.
Drafting Scola could have caused a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe! Or maybe not.
This is the flat out truth, period.
tlong with a flashback ScolaThread.
Granted, that's a worst-case scenario. The destruction might in fact have been very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.
