this is a hard one, friend. I think i was still stung from the Andrew Gaze project? I never expect much from Marks, i think the only thing i can remember about him was he might have had the lowest nba live rating i'd ever seen. i wondered how a guy with such a ridiculous rating could even be in the league. surely somebody in the spurs organization played video games? I think he was a tall white guy who could drop 3's, and eventually be molded for the spurs staff? maybe he was the prototype that would later become Matt Bonner?
well I had no expectations for him but I just thought he would be a solid role player since spurs signed him, but I had no idea about contracts back then and didn't know it was only for 20 days.

I thought Willie Anderson was going to get better and better... he was silky smooth with a great game near the basket, long ass arms, great fade... When we got David finally, they were going to play off each other nicely. Not so much. Willie had some good years, but never matched his rookie year and possible potential...

Hoped Kidd would come over after the Spurs dismantled them in '03. Was constantly pining for a slew of trades after seeing a starting line-up that featured Jeremy Richardson at center. Spurs kept signing players like Garrett Temple and Desmon Ferguson and it was...slightly depressing.

    I love this thread!

Willie Anderson. I honestly can't say i remember much about him. I do remember his name. And i remember a few things about that old Rodman team. Most importantly, Anderson wasn't the worst player. i was surprised he was the expansion choice, i thought it shoulda been Herrera. I hated Herrera! My buddy and i were actually watching old Sean Elliott highlight videos the other night. And i was thinking about why i hated Herrera so much. I thought he was terrible, but he looked good in the little glimpse of Sean highlights. LOL!!!! Maybe there was some contract business that was going on with Willie? Old me woulda said i'd rather have had Willie around when Rodman was gone, Dave was hurt, and the team was so hurt they ended up with the first overall.

But now i know... If Willie had been around, and Herrera gone. Maybe the spurs wouldn't have landed Timmy. That's insane!! I was such a spoiled brat kid spurs fan!!

you know, buddy! lemme tell you a story about Kidd to the spurs that year. I thought it was the stupidest ever to be considering Kidd. We had Parker. Parker was a ballin young man! And it would have been lateral, at best, to swap them out. And in the long run, Kidd was going to be old and worn down when Parker was reaching his peak. Kinda reminds me of this stupid Kevin Love is proven now and Wiggins might not be the next Lebron soon enough!!!!

We had the money from Dave retiring. i thought the best thing to do was spend on big. Jermaine O'neal was free. i think Odom or Brand was a big free agent then? i'm not looking it up, i'm going off memory here, so sue me. a buddy suggested spurs could spot fill for a season and save the space for a soon expiring KG!!! I really liked the idea of prime KG and Tim together.

But ya know what, none of them would have come. Rasho. Bonner!!! That would never have happened. The gaping hole at big eventually got us Big Shot Bob, just to show the true inner struggle here. I'm breaking kayfabe to say, Big Shot Bob!!!! losing out on Kidd is for the best, the spurs were lucky to be stuck with Parkers youth and potential. Too bad they didn't leave him in France to develop, imagine how much better he would be?! The spurs did great, anyways!! this time, i actually got my spoiled fan wish, by misfortune. And it truly did turn out fantastic. Which i guess fueled my spoiled mentality.

The hype on Wiggins is insane. The way people talk about him, you'd think he was rookie Shaq..

I too am Spoiled Spurs fan. I've been following the team since the 80s when I started watching sports instead of playing them.

My family's from the 'Burgh, so I've been a Steelers fan since I was 5.

I've been through hard times with both teams and stayed a fan, but I'm so accustomed to my teams winning that I can't think what it's like when my team doesn't make the playofffs, much less to be a fan of a perennial loser.

I thought Jeff Ayres would be our best FA signing in years
