Alright, I took mine off for Kori since she didn't want it on here.![]()
Did you read my posts?
It's not a matter of that.

I could turn off the signature option, but @ work it is no problem, and I indentify the posts when I'm scrolling through by their signatures.
In Firefox, you can block images from certain sites (right-clink on the image to get a menu including the image blocking option). A large number of posters put up images that would be slightly inappropriate for family viewing.
About 0.1 MB. Your breakdance clip is the type of animation animated gif is designed for.
Turning off sigs is stupid. For instance, Manny and spursster have badass sigs. Big difference between 24.4 KB and 4.5 MB (a factor of almost 200).
Hahahaha!! WOW.
Oh btw, is my video too big?
Yours is 222KB.
Say you can open 10 parallel connections. Every image on the page is a new parallel connection.... so now only one of your 10 connections is requesting information from Kori's server. It's asking for transmissions at a much lower rate because it's recieving data from Kori's server at a much lower rate since the other 9 connections are requesting large images/videos and thus using all the bandwidth. Meanwhile, since you've established the connection with Kori's server and have not closed the connection her server has to keep the connection open to you, even though you're only requesting info from her server at a much slower rate. The other 9 connections remain open for a long time because they're each requesting a very large object (ie, TPark's video) and all competing with each other for the bandwidth. If your connection is slow the video files ensure that some of the packet requests from Kori's server timeout, and thus you re-request them automatically and the server resends them. Because it takes forever to finally get the info on the page that comes from Kori's server it can't close the connection and open a new one with for user who's trying to read the thread if it's already at high capacity.
These objects (ie, the videos, pics, scripts, etc.) are usually re-downloaded every time you view the page from a new browser process.
Manny's so smart, nothing ever gets past you.
T3 here es.
Thanks Base. I knew there was a technical explanation eventhough I didn't know what it was. All I know is that during the playoff games, if I disabled the signatures the forum ran at normal rate. If I left them on, it slowed down a lot.
That being said. I'm not asking anyone to change their signatures, except those who have copyrighted video in their sigs.
Okay so this complaint is basically just about the video animated sigs...with illegally used copyrighted material. Okay...I thought this was about all animated sigs and such. I can see the justification in the complaint then, especially with dial up users.
THen make it your desktop, close all your running apps, and masturbate away. baseball, this is a basketball site.I do, and thats all that in matters.
I'm with base on all this. Tpark, do you have the expressed written permission of Major League Baseball to have that clip as your sig?
It's actually two different complaints.
1. Baseline's complaint of people using HUGE gifs that take forever to download (and also slow the server during peak times).
2. My complaint of anyone who has copyrighted video of any sort in their sigs.
However both complaints are about the exact same particular video signatures.
As a Red's fan, I would like to see the Jim Edmonds' video done away with.
TPark doesn't care.. He's a redneck.
thanks bb
That makes sense, thanks for the explanation. Like I said I agreed with the sentiment, just didn't understand the bandwidth complaint.
Anyway, I don't even have a sig. So all you ers with the ing animated gifs. Especially you TPARK![]()
![]()
T-Park has a 4.25 MB worth of sig wasted on ing baseball??? Now that has to go.
Not just baseball, the Cardinals.
A bunch of people also have animated avatars, I don't know how big they are.
My emoticons and animated gifs just started working in motion about 2 weeks ago. Before that, they were always just pictures.
Hey.. how much in space does my smilie v licker take?
@ smilie v licker
You know what..... in bb has a good point......
I am trying to scroll through topics and these mofoing signatures are making my hesitate up in this mofo.
Take those mofos off...
