Earl Watson is one of the few NBA points I wouldn't mind replacing Beno. NVE is not.

The Spurs can certainly offer him a contract starting in the $2.5 mil range.

The Spurs can offer the min. to G-Rob or DeMarr Johnson and offer the $2.5 to Earl Watson.

I totally agree, but that leaves only minimum/vet. minimum money for the backup Swingman. I'd do it though, if Watson would go for it. He will make any team (whoever that ends up being) better .

I'd settle for Earl Watson and then giving minimum to Matt Barnes, wouldn't you?

Well, it's not like the Spurs went to that 5th swingman too often over the course of last season. Beno would have to be moved.

Are you building my dream team?

The Spurs wanted Barnes last summer and didn't get him. And his name has been absent from free agent talks. So it will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Here's some relevant notes on who the Nets are going after:

McKie agreed to terms yesterday with the Lakers, and the Nets are now reviewing other potential guard candidates. The Nets have on their radar ex-Knick DerMarr Johnson, Wesley Person, Casey Jacobsen and Jason Kapono ... The Knicks are still looking to sign Pacers young swingman James Jones, whom Isiah Thomas drafted in Indiana.

    It would work for me.

I think the Spurs will have to do something like that or pull off a trade, the way their money situation is right now.

Regarding the Nets, I would also think Devin Brown would be buying a plane ticket to visit w/ NJ now, also, since McKie is off the mkt.

If the Spurs put Watson, Manu, Bowen, Duncan, and one of our centers or Horry on the floor would the other team ever score?

I don't know, but I have a weird feeling about DeMarr Johnson. I think he is going to turn into something good. Not an All-Star or anything like that, but a solid player. He has had some bumps on the road, but I think this next year he will have a chance to show what he can do. I wonder if the Spurs have even given him a look. It may sound strange to a lot of you, but I would offer him the min. and offer Earl Watson the $2.5 mil. instead of offering G-Rob the min. I would like G-Rob on the team, but I think Johnson is worth the risk.

Damn, I'm gonna miss seeing McKie warming up the bench at Sixers games this season........
    Me too...

and the worst part is, now he's on the Lakers...

I'm happy for him though, he really hasn't played and his talent is being wasted, and he plays pretty good D. Now he will get playing time and maybe have a little more fun.
