Diaw had potential to be a less athletic Lebron. He has the same skillset but without the athleticism and work ethic. He was always a decent athlete, there was a story about how he out jumped Amare, but he was never in Lebrons league (who is?) and the more muscle he would put on the more his athleticism would suffer.

Still, being a poor mans Lebron isn't a bad ceiling.
He was a great athlete, not a decent one. More muscle I don't know... But less fat would have helped.

But the main reason why he is not Lebron (not implying he could have been as good) is his mindset. With all the athleticism in the world, he would still chose a layup over a dunk. This is what he was doing when he could outjump Amare.

Boris is damn near the MVP of our team. Let me see, he's won an NBA Championship and a European Championship in the last year. And what team are you on?

A pity that Spurs can't get Boris early when he came to the nba.

    But better late than never

This season kind of WAS Boris Diaw 2.0... and I "kind of" enjoyed it. If Boris just plays like his did in 2014 throughout his contract, that's plenty good enough for my happy ass.

I'd always thought that, but 2003 Pop may not have been as relaxed with Boris. Pop has changed a LOT in the way he interacts with his players.

Since Pop allow Manu to do what he want and not try to limit his game, I think there is a good chance that Pop also could have handle Boris just as well in 2003.

Pop's on going battles with Manu and the frustration they felt towards one another back in 2003 is well do ented. It wasn't easy for those two to see eye to eye.

Exactly. They eventually reached an accord, but Manu's effort is easy to see, so I'm sure that was a factor. Boris's isn't always so easy to see. He makes counter intuitive plays and plays at an even, sometimes appearing to be lazy, pace.
