The article is just about poorly written as Ayres is as a basketball player. Unreal that both can be so deficient in talent as that writer and Mr. Ayres. Why Spurs ever picked him up vs alternatives is a mystery?

I sure as heck expect him to be better than in the bottom 15-30 players in the NBA. That's about the level he was at last season, and that's not good enough to be on this team.

Let's put it this way, IMO if he didn't have a 2 year contract he wouldn't be here this season. Do you agree or disagree with that?
I agree with that. I think there's a learning curve, and guys have said that coming to the Spurs, especially for big guys. and sure some of it was just bonehead stuff by him of course, but I mean at the end of the day, he is really just there to eat up some minutes and give TD/Splitter a break. I do agree with you though, coming into his 2nd season with us, I would expect him to be better and show more familiarity with the system and higher IQ plays.

Jeff Ayres is the comic sans of Spurs players. One person doesn't like him and everyone else piles on because it makes them feel like they actually have an opinion of their own.

Pop played Ayres more, and his advanced stats were better than Baynes' so, dropped passes notwithstanding, he'd probably be here anyway.

No he wouldn't. If he had a one year deal, he'd be gone.

Couldn't even get court time today. Horrible player. He brings no Basketball value to the team. He's a good teammate and seems like a decent person, but that's about all I have seen from him.

Also, no thanks, not interested in your analogy of him playing Ayres over Baynes last season. I don't think Baynes is great either. I wanted him on the team as an enforcer and backup center against bigger teams with bigger centers. Pop played numerous players over Splitter and none of them were better. I don't bend over like some of you guys do to the FO. I wanted Splitter in ahead of all those players in his first season here and Pop didn't do it. This is a guy who was playing Bonner and Blair ahead of Splitter. Sorry, I disagree with your assessment.

Actually what does Ayres bring to the team apart from advanced stats Hollinger-wise ?

    Thanks, coach!
