I wonder how much DG is worth on open market and if Spurs could match 80% of it.

The Spurs can pay Green more than any other team.

Yeah. But no one's gonna do that for McDaniels. Though it does it that Pick-1 thread I had a few months ago.
I'm actually beginning to think a team will. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone throw $30m/3yr at him. It's only $12m more than Wiggins (the #1 pick) will get over that time frame and KJ is proving that he belongs in the same league as Wiggins, even if it is early in the season.

I'm not actually sure if the poison pill contract is in play here since the Sixers are under the cap, they may not be forced in to a backloaded deal the way the Knicks and Bulls were. I think it's got something to do with exceptions but I'm not totally sure.

I think the Sixers would match anything up to $10m per for him, if for no other reason than their fan base would go crazy if they lost the only bright spark of an abhorrent season, but it might be a different story if they were forced to pay him 5/5/20 rather than 10/10/10

10 million for a 2nd round rookie who has done nothing to prove his worth or his offensive game on probably the worst team in history.

This is just a bad idea from which nothing good will come out from. Even drunk driving RC wouldn't be coerced to signing KJ McDaniels.

Are they wiling to ? Market for SG with defense isnt big. Some teams could overpay him.

What do you think overpaying Danny Green would look like? The teams that could pay in excess of the MLE aren't very good.

I don't think the Spurs lose him this summer.

Of course it's a gamble, but you have to pay that kind of figure otherwise Sixers will just match. I'm not saying KJ is worth it, I'm saying that's the kind of number you have to pay to get him away from the Sixers and hope he turns in to Jimmy Butler in a few years.

Spurs never roll the dice like that. They'll go a after someone like Jamal Franklin for the minimum.

Yeah, there's a lot of really dumb GMs still employed by NBA teams.

He had some character concerns at Clemson IIRC. Imagine Stephen Jackson without the production, tbh.

**Plus, his mom is a distraction

    And back at Clemson..
