I'm in California. I can't just take a defensive driving class instead of paying the ticket . It's not a matter of being self righteous

And for everybody saying "pay the ticket" please read the le of the thread
Did you read my post? I've never plead guilty or no contest to anything other than an expired sticker, but that's obviously not one that makes sense to fight.

Cops don't like to appear in court bro.

It would have to be trial by dec, not sure if he works in the county where Bubba pulled you over.
Worth a phone call to see. Have ticket in front of you when you call. Better yet, email it.

I read the OP just fine..

You went over the limit. It doesn't matter if you went over the limit by 10 or by 5..You did.

    So pay up and learn.

Never said in the OP that I was above the limit. So "just fine" would not accurately describe how you read the post. And again, if your advice is "pay the ticket" please read the thread LE

Defensive driving would be a of allot of less hassle (and much cheaper) then going to court so I would definitaly do that especially since you do admit that you were over the speed limit but its the speed that you are not agreeing on. but thats just my opinion

There is that off chance that the cop wont show up and case would be dismissed in court but thats a gamble.

I wasn't below the limit (tbh, on an open-road 2 lane highway, nobody is) but I wasn't going fast enough to fear getting pulled over.
Sure, you weren't going over the limit....

i'm not sure what advice you were looking for. you don't have many options. either pay the ticket(smart move), defensive driving if thats an option, or take it to court and fight it.

Tbh last time I had a speeding ticket in the US, cop showed me a print of the radar with my speed. If you had doubts, why didn't you ask proof ?

there's no way i can pay a fee i didn't deserve and feel content about it.
You are dealing with an officer of the court. Whatever he says is law.

Your contentment is not be in the same space with such a liar ever again.

if you weren't below and you weren't over, what's left? Right at the speed limit?

Did you have cruise control on?

You can't fight it. Whatever the cop says the judge will believe at default.

And he'll show up,,,the days of cops not showing up is long gone. They're on to that tact.

Just take it, 21. You don't have to like it, but, you do have to take it.

Just go to court and tell the judge what you said here. Your Honor, the speed limit was 65 mph and I know I was speeding although I can't say for sure how fast I was going but it sure didn't seem like 75 mph, oh and this cop is a liar. I'm sure the judge will dismiss.

Or you can do what the rest of us do, pay the ticket and take defensive driving online to keep it off your record.

Well then you should be able to walk right up to the judge without counsel, tell him/her that and be found not guilty.

It's pretty simple: you were either speeding or you weren't.

If you were, then suck it up buttercup and pay the fine.

You should have told the cop that. I've been stopped once and was a passenger once when my brother was stopped, and when we denied speeding first thing cop asked was "were you using cruise control?" Apparently it carries some weight with them.

That's because no one knows how to combat a speeding ticket issued when they are not below the speed limit but not above it either
