So, LJ finally has company.

I gave him tips.

Aww.. Y'all good folks.
1. What kind of a veterinary Mengele would charge extra for that?
2. What kind of evil person would not pay for it?
Wow! We ought to check the Houston shelters for something similar, but I'm having a hard time picturing adding a small dog (can't have anything bigger in our poor small place) and my cat will not tolerate another cat (he thinks he's royalty). It's still worth taking a look. . . I hate to think about all the animals that will be put to sleep or die naturally because of all of this.![]()
Well the standard adoption fee covers neutering with some pain medicine (not morphine) but you can pay extra and get complete bloodwork and a morphine shot, plus some pills for afterward. We got everything extra because I wanted to get a full blood panel to make sure he was okay -- it was an extra $82.00.1. What kind of a veterinary Mengele would charge extra for that?

Did he come home with the cone on his head?
No, they said he didn't need a cone. *shrug*
What a beauty! I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! = )
Weird thing is that he's terrified to go up and down the stairs.
LJ almost had to carry him up and then back down again.
Right now he's crying because he wants back up. So I left him a trail of snausages up the stairway to see if he's willing to try.
He looks almost exactly like my dog Mojo (also from a shelter).
I'd stick with the orginal name.
Bless you for adopting him.
I have lots of dog training experience (dog-obedience compe ions for many years, and rescue foster home for many more) so if you need any tips, let me know.
Have fun with him--he's a lucky dog, and so are you!
omg he looks almost the same as my dog even down to the collar you have on him, although my dogs collar is little faded
Damn I had no idea they still made snausages.
That's weird.
BTW, he's adorable! I know a cute little (fixed) blonde you can hook him up with![]()
Now you have someone who can keep an eye on Mouse when he's in your home for the GTG's.
Congrats and very nice of you two. He is a looker. The es will be jumping over the fence for rendezvous. Avery will have lots of fun!
solid.
Dear doggie without a name: I'll get you over your fear of the stairs! You don't need snauges to get you upstairs![]()

He actually runs up and down the stairs now. It only took 3 or 4 trips of carrying or helping him up until he figured out it wasn't that bad![]()
Kori,
He's beautiful. What a sweet face. It's great that you're taking him in, but, have you thought of the possibility that, his New Orleans family, if they survive, will be looking for him soon? Are you going to post his picture on a missing dogs site?
They are dogs that were already in the shelter in New Orleans, so they aren't dogs that the owners will come looking for (as far as I know?). They are just dogs that were transfered from the N.O. shelter to the Bexar County Humane Society. I am pretty sure that they were in the shelter PRIOR to the hurricane.
