This news is hardly surprising. But it's a major bummer for people like me who were holding out hope that a miracle last-minute deal could happen.
Honestly we can hope but you and I along with all Spurs fans should know by now it never happens. I expect nothing at all and am fine with that.

More than likely it will be a quiet trade deadline. The only real question I have is what are the Spurs going to do with CoJo in the offseason? With him being a restricted free agent I sure some team will pay him well enough that the Spurs would not want to match. Right now they 3 quality point guards. With Beli back that most likely means he is not in the postseason rotation.

Knicks need to shed $2.8 to get under the tax and Jason Smith makes $3.3. Perhaps a third team with cap room can take on Ayres. One of Knicks or Spurs would have to give something to team three to incentivize them and Knicks would need to get back something (protected 2nd?).

Smith provides some better floor spacing while Ayers will see no playing time so long as Baynes is around.

Anyone that has any expectations hasn't been a Spurs fan for to long. This is annual vacation time for the Spurs FO

Maybe we will get a rare surprise this time but I wouldn't count on it.
