This whole Spurs season reminds me of the James Brown cape flourish stunt he used to do on stage.

Towards the end of the show, Brown pretends he's too tired to continue, the emcee puts a cape around his shoulders to walk him off the stage, and suddenly, James Brown would whip the cape off with new found energy and enthusiastically finish the set with a pumped up motivation:

"As he was escorted off the stage, Brown – seemingly exhausted – would shake off the cape and continue, solidifying his reputation as the hardest-working man in show business."

    Superb analogy!

The second unit play from the portland game gave me hope. Same kind of play as last seasons playoffs. Problem was always playing from behind on the scoreboard. Spurs starters have to lift.

Same in the first Q again tonight, starters fell behind.

still not out of the woods, but that 4th quarter was a big step in the right direction...

Also I know OP has been advocating resting Gino, but damn, when he plays well, we normally win...

Could of sworn I heard this before the all star break when everyone was predicting the Spurs getting the 3rd or 4th seed, then again after the all star break before the Spurs lost 4 straight.

It's going to be a tough grind with the decline of Parker and everyone's lower 3 pt shooting percentage. Spurs need everything to click perfectly like last year. But it'll take a lot of effort and we won't know for sure if they really consistently turned things around until after 10 or so games. We'll find out if they can get their together in March.

Really happy that we finally got a W tonight. If Spurs can beat the Suns tommorow, they can go back home and build up a win-streak. the past. Spurs need to focus on getting a 6th or 5th spot in the playoffs.

I wouldn't say "good call" just yet (keep in mind, there was a pretty impressive stretch in the previous game), but there is cause for optimism.

Mainly because Longoria shot over 20%. That always helps.

It wasn't perfect but they pounded the rock and got a 'W'. I don't care who suited up for Sacramento, we won and that's all that matters. Tony showed signs of life too.

Yeah, there were a few up and under moves by Tony in the paint that were like flashbacks to the distant past...the distant pass of November, that is.

Parker has been our best and most consistent player for years. Without him near to where he used to be, we don't have a chance. End of.

Excellent hustle and defense by the guys tonight. The big 3 had little impact scoring wise but the rest of the team picked up the slack and ran away early. That was very nice to see.

I suspect some home cooking will do well for the shooting percentages.

    not yet. not yet.

Spurs are losing both or 1 of the next 2 road games.

As I said before all we need to look forward in the rest of the road trip is to not get an injury. Get back home, Pop needs to summon his re ed assistant coaches and decide on some serious , the players need to go home and decompress. the first 5 games of the home stretch next week will decide the season.

Well they can sign McGee and than blame that signing on them not repeating. LOL, jk.

If they don't repeat, fine, but when the playoffs start as Pop says, "show me some nasty".

Parker is still on the Spurs. Shots aren't falling. Defense has been atrocious. The Spurs with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named on the roster would go in raw against today's pathetic team.

With Kawhi Leonard on the floor their defensive rating is first in the league. Great take.
