If we can get back to playing at last year's level there's no team in the West that can beat us. The Thunder would still be a tough matchup though.

    Seeds 6&7 suck.

Seed 8 would be better because then you play the winner of the 4/5 matchup instead of playing the 2 or 3 in the next round.

Seeding doesn't matter. To win it all you have to beat the best. Of little consequence if spurs play the Warriors in the first round or WCF. Teams still have to win.

Spurs 15-16 road record is more indicative, more fatal than any playoff seeding.

If a team can't win on the road, they ain't going anywhere in the playoffs.

Agreed. I have nothing against Baynes but the guy's a mediocre big man. 4th big in the rotation is his ceiling in this league. One of Tiago or Boris should be starting with Timmy at all times.
Probably true but baynes jumper and free throws way more reliable and Tiago is such a pussy

since it's a close conference, seeding matters even more as there is a high chance to get home court advantage in the next round.

Yeah, seeding matters. We're probably ed if we finish anywhere below 4th. Can't recall many teams winning four straight series in a row without homecourt in the playoffs.
Seeding is still attainable. All it takes is for some of the teams above us to drop some games. Of course you have to take strength of schedule as a factor. I would guess ours is one of the easier ones remaining.

I think last team to win 4 straight on the road was '95 Rockets. They were 6th and came together at the right time. '99 Knicks won 3 straight before losing to the Spurs in the Finals.

I think the only current playoff team we haven't beaten in a playoff series recently is the Rockets. Over the past couple of seasons we've beaten the Warriors, Grizzlies, Trailblazers, Clippers, Mavs, and Thunder.

That is assuming you pass GS who will be no cakewalk at all with HC man, that is HARDLY a given. I see what you mean after round one though, it does get easier. I wish it were last year and the Spurs were the #1 seed man , how things have changed and the later seed is their calling this year. If they end up 7th it would be a VERY hard road, 6th as well, doubt they end up 8th with Westbrook out now and Durant as well and they probably end up 8th.

Yes, only because we have not played them since 95 but you are correct. Either or years past mean jack now but you are right there. Each year a new year however.

BTW that is an impressive list we have beaten there, very nice playoff series wins and some of them dominant fashion.

    1. The 1999 Knicks are the only 8th seeded team ever to reach the NBA finals. The 1994–95 Houston Rockets, a sixth seed with a record of 47–35, were the lowest seeded team to win the NBA finals.

YEP, that is VERY rare, shows you how often is happens and for that to repeat it self the stars almost have to align and some big shots etc. have to go your way like Houston in 95 and the 4 pt play in 99 by LJ.

I agree 100% on this, no way they win 4 straight series on the road, if they do it will be miracle and some lucky involved on top of that miracle.

In general you want either 4,5 or 8 as a seeding. However I think the teams in the West are so evenly matched that it won't matter. We'll just have to take care of business on the road. Don't forget we beat the Heat in games 3-4 of the Finals on their homecourt. Actually blew them out. That's why I think if you're good enough to be a champion you're good enough to win on the road.

Matchups matter. Seeding affects matchups, but if your team isn't able to beat all other teams in the top 8 they aren't ready for a ring.

Since we cannot run a playoff back and see how it worked without HCA, we will never know, but I'd rather have it than not have it. Look at home and road records, that should explain it.

Playing the Grizz in the first round would be a lot better than GS....We match up much better
    with the Grizz.
