The same thing happened on St. Patrick's Day in 2007, when a full-strength Spurs squad dropped a very similar home game to a Celtics team that was terrible and openly tanking to get a shot at Oden/Durant.

For that matter, the 2013 Spurs dropped a home game around this same time of the year by 30 to a Portland team that finished 33-49.

I'm not saying that the future for the 2015 Spurs will be the same as it turned out for the 2007 Spurs, but a loss like that one (as bad as it seems) doesn't necessarily mean doom.

Bad losses happen and one got the Spurs last night, who paid for treating that game -- from top to bottom -- as a formality.
Portland had actual talent and the Spurs sat their stars so that number is a little skewed there from 2013. The Knicks are just flat out horrible, woeful and get blown out every night except last night when the mighty Spurs came to town, they manage to lose to them. 2007 Spurs still had their guys in their primes, that was a very good team and this one is not near it, so yeah don't bother comparing this one to the 2007 team that won 59 games or so. You can't compare years really unless it's one or two years ago because honestly the same thing is not going to happen every single year and the players change and so on so I don't like doing that really. You can compare this one to the 2013 team though and honestly this one right now is not as good by any means, the 7th seed for this team is not the norm as they are usually near the top.

I do remember in 99 the Spurs losing to the Bulls who were only winning 10 games that year and tanking and just woeful, that one stands out and they fared pretty well that year so I see your point on that end of things as it can turn around. Losing to the Knicks is so embarassing though for a defending champ, MY GOD they are the first team to be defending a le to lose to a .200 team I read last night, pathetic.

Golden State and Atlanta were resting their entire first team pretty much... Spurs were at full strength, minus Manu. Can't compare them. Atlanta and Golden State are actual contenders, the Spurs aren't.
Huh? Thompson, Green, Curry played 35, 34 and 33 minutes. That's resting the first team?

Horford + Teague both played (as did Schroeder). Millsap was out and Korver was hurt.

Manu plays and Spurs win yesterday running away.

Even more the last year we won't see the truth till atleast the playoffs. Even against dallas they ed off till they had to. Took a game off against Portland. Needed Cojo to wake them up against okc. And probably should've won game 2 of the finals but when push came to shove they kicked ass and we're gonna see that again. Injury is the only concern.
