Sean Penn should be commended. He didn't just write a check, he joined in the effort to save people. That's pretty snide to mock him for it. I don't like the guy, but I have no doubt that he did this because he cared about those people and honestly wanted to help. As for the entourage, those are just more people that can lend a hand. As for the photographer, I don't know, maybe he just wanted to do ent it, maybe there was a little vanity, but still even vain people can care about others and want to do good.

If Penn is following his usual MO, he is probably super pissed at President Bush and wanted to do ent any horrors he might see to prove a point. I will concede that he might not have thought it completely through, i.e. the small boat with too many people, but I agree that his heart was in the right place.
Who ing cares if he was going to have an artist on the boat to draw the people.
