the fact that popovich sent a 60% freethrow shooter in the game to ice it says everything. I knew he was gonna miss one. I was in a bar that night and I hated seeing him go to the line.
There were so many bad decisions by Pop in that situation. But that might have been one of the biggest. He was outcoached by Spoelstra over those last few minutes. Spoelstra got everything he wanted and Pop got everything he didn't want. Basically he coached to not lose vs coaching to win (taking positive steps to ensure the outcome).

He should dominate this series. Other than the last game between the teams, he's given the Clippers nightmares.

I just hope they go back to the month where they got him in the post and let him go to work. He did all sorts of damage and had his most incredible run of his career. I just hope it's not a repeat of last night where he goes stretches without a fg attempt. Parking him in the corner is not the answer.

It's really ing stupid isn't it? Spurs dominate teams for about a month with Kawhi being fed, Rique has a big scoring half vs Hou, Timmy has a vintage performance @ Hou and suddenly Kawhi is relegated to a corner three pt shooter.

The only time he was a focal point yesterday was in the few minutes when those two guys were on the bench. Enrique is not letting go of those reins w/o some resistance despite what he may say.

He was forcing up a ton of poor mid range jumpers last night.

He did force some shots but can you blame him? 1 FGA the entire first quarter and he only had plays ran for him when Timmy/Rique were on the bench. The same guy that has been on an absolute tear during the past month and a half was relegated to the corner.

On top of that he benches Tim Duncan when all they need is one damn rebound to win the game and Miami gets two key rebounds....... That part still pisses me off. He had 17 rebounds in the game and did enough to win, leave him IN for GODS SAKES.

I also hated seeing a young guy go to the line at that spot, then again Manu was at the line and missed one as well so I doubt he makes both the way he played that series. He used to be their ace go to guy at the line as well late, automatic until the last few years.

I knew he would miss one though, atleast he got the second.

BTW that first shot he missed was dead on and in line, just rimmed out.
Holy you guys. We're still harping on this?

He doesn't know when his shots are coming and the ing team won't feed him the ball in the low post. And then he touches the ball rarely and forces up a quick jumper because he doesn't get the ball often or the time is winding down.

It's been his time. Spurs need him to be aggressive, not foolish. Know when to pass and when to take over. They have a team of Champions who share the ball. That doesn't need to change.

Last year healed all for me, just posting on what was said. I'm fine now and can even watch that game or the ending and not get too upset, last years run made up for it and then some IMO. That made it that much more sweet.

They need to milk Leonard in the post early and often. If he can get Barnes (one of the most hated players in the league by the refs) in foul trouble with any degree of consistency, it'll go a long way towards winning.

Even if he can't though, Ginobili should sub in for Leonard, not Green, at the usual 7-6 minute mark in the 1st and 3rd. Then bring Leonard back the instant they sub out Barnes and play Re -Crawford together. Or, since they'll probably want to pretend early in the series that they trust their bench, Crawford-Turkoglu.

Rivers and their staff will figure it out after a while and adjust accordingly, by having Barnes exit with him, but for a while they should be able to exploit this.

Had a Spur done that, they would have called an offensive foul on the jersey tug

    Exactly.
And it would help if he could start getting to the line more and making both.
If KL starts drawing some fouls, it will show me he has become our main man.
Easy points in the playoffs can be huge.

This is Kawhi's series. He'll be defended by Matt Barnes and Jamal Crawford

We have a massive matchup advantage at SF. Pop, Parker, etc better get on board and let him eat first in this series. The fear is that Parker's ego will get in the way because he's facing Chris Paul, and he'll try to do his hero thing. Parker should understand that "he'll get his" slashing off the ball during Kawhi double teams (though, Parker is sometimes afraid to slash when there's a shotblocker patrolling paint). If Parker falls in love with that 17 footer, we're in for a tough time.

We have the advantage at every position in this series, since the Clips are paper thin on the bench. I just hope Parker doesn't piss that away by trying to outplay Paul. Paul is better than you, deal with it. Let our depth do the work.

yes. if he cares so much about getting his numbers that he has to force bad shots to make up for not getting the ball enough then he's not fitting the spurs mold
