64 games is more than a large enough sample size. The fact the media voted Kawhi as DPOY shows they've finally got their heads out their asses and are seriously considering advanced metrics now in their decision.

Not to say Green wouldn't have been deserving, but Kawhi's overall metrics are better.

No one really questioned Kiwi's bonafides. I think the only knock was that he missed time and Green did his all year. Also GSW went from a mediocre defensive team to a good almost elite one. Kiwi is the better defender not because of metrics but he has proven to be the best defender in the NBA on arguably the three most toughest covers especially when you think back on the Finals. No one else in the NBA can hound ball handlers like CP3/Harden/Steph and defend wings Like Durant/Lebron or a smaller big like Blake. Kiwi is the better overall defender ...but Dubs rely on Green more because they never really had a solid defensive structure. Spurs have never let teams average over 99 pts a game for 15 years.

Either choice would have been worthy but Kiwi is truly the best defender and the media is still dumb. Metrics will help just as much as they hurt ...

Actually it's because there were two camps, the Draymond camp and the Jordan camp, who both voted for their guy and intentionally didn't vote for the other guy, allowing Kawhi to sneak in on points.
