Leonard is a great defensive player but he cannot guard everyone on the other team. We have 5 guys on the floor. If Buttercup Parker can't guard Paul then maybe Joseph needs to be out there. How about you don't want your most productive offensive player (KL) chasing a point guard around most of the game. Not that he rests on defense but it does save a bit of energy guarding Red rather than chasing CP3 all night. DGreen is more than capable of being the primary CP3 defender.

But op is not wrong. Paul is the head of the snake. Kawhi is just one offensive player. We can replace his points obj offense whereas he can't be replaced on defense.
Green can guard any of their wings. Kawhi isn't the best cp3'defender just the scariest. Harass vs abuse really. I love me some green, but I think if we're in desperation mode it's by far not our worst move.
