do the same I did during the Robinson era. about someone not coming through in the clutch, having no good players, and expressing disdain with coaching and front office.

You're not old enough to remember when the team was bad, other than maybe that year when David Robinson was injured in 96-97. wasn't fun in the Alfrederick Hughes days. If Duncan retires best case scenario is being able to bump Dallas off for the 8th seed next year.
Yeah, I've lived a spoiled existence as a fan. I was 9-10 in '99 and that run is what made me go all in and never left since. I wouldn't mind going through the whole process though instead of just jumping in when they're at the top. '99 must've been euphoric for those of you old enough to have suffered through all the ty years.

Yeah, what made 99 so crazy was the loss in 95 when the Spurs were heavily favored and had owned the Rockets in the regular season. Sean Elliott's three against Portland in Game 2 was literally the first shot like that which had ever gone in the Spurs favor in the playoffs, thinking back to Mike Mitc 's missed jumpshot and Artis Gilmore's inability to hit a point blank layup off the rebound at the buzzer down one in Game 6 of the 83 WCF vs LA, to Willie Anderson's inability to get a shot off at the buzzer and then Rod Strickland's no look pass in OT in Game 7 of the 1990 WCSF in Portland, to Nick Van Exel's three in the second round in 1995, to Robert Horry's elbow jumper to steal Game 1 of the 95 WCF, and so on. As a Spurs fan 1995 hurt a lot more than 6.

It's amazing how many of these kind of plays have gone the Spurs way since, but they used to never do it.

Will you still watch every game? Will you care as much if we're not in the playoffs every year? What's life going to be like???

I'm going to try to do something productive with my life tbh. maybe I'll join the Peace Corps. I dunno yet

Of course I am still going to watch every game. The Spurs have made the playoffs the last 25 out of 26 years. We had championship aspirations before the Big 3 in '79, '89 and '95 (fcuking Ferry turning off them lights; Strickland with that damn no look pass; and Olajuwon with the greatest playoff performance I have ever seen). I don't think this organizations le runs will end with the loss of the Big 3 as we have a great model that other franchises try to emulate.

I'll root for Bud and the Hawks...and if they are eliminated too, I call it a season and will not care anymore except for maybe the Draft.
A Bud-Kerr Finals would be pretty cool.

I've supported and stayed with 'em every year since they started, including maintaining some expensive lower level season tickets during the years when we weren't playing well.

You have to keep the interest and encourage the team and owners by your support. A big part of this is giving the players love, even when things don't go well.

That's what a fan does as his part of a mutual obligation to keep the team playing in San Antonio.

Like another poster said, having le aspirations year in and year out is exhausting as a diehard fan. At this point, I'm not that against tempered expectations and going through the process of trying to climb back to the top of the mountain. We already have 5 so the slip ups won't be as painful as it is for other teams tbh.
Good point I would give about anything to win tonight but I don't know if I can handle another series like this especially against those flopping pussies in Houston.
