The Spurs were impressive for sure last year, but "franchise-killing" is a bit much. Getting ass-blasted in the first round by a mediocre Bulls team as defending champs in 2007 didn't kill the Heat franchise, the 2011 Finals loss didn't kill the Heat franchise, so I'm sure they'll find a way to bounce back from last year eventually.
The Heat imploded after that ass whuppin'. They all knew they could never recover from it.

To be honest I never really think of a championship after the fact. After the summer.
What I mean there is, yeah there's the season opener and rings ceremony, but all that people say about the last year's team still being the NBA champions and "defending their le" this year...yeah, it's technically true, but it's not something I usually actively think about.
For me it's more "get another one" than "defend the le!!!". We didn't get another one this year, which hurt, but we've got ours. Here's to our next shot at it.

80s Celtics never repeated. Aren't they know as a "Dynasty"?

Bill Simmons thinks the '86 celtics team is the greatest of all time in his book of basketball. Biggest celtics homer of alltime.
