The question is would we have won a championship w/Malik instead of Nazr?????
It's tough to say, but I'll say no, we wound't have. Spurs will do everything they can to keep him, or to replace him w/someone better.
You know that might be right. They haven't been getting much action on the rumored Rasho trade offers.
In an inflated market for centers, Nasr is going to command a lot more money than Rasho is already contracted for. So if they are going to lose zNasr anyway, then maybe they do a sign and trade with someone for a really good young SF to take over from Bowen.
In any event, one of the three centers will go--and NAsr is the one with the big payday in Free Agency ahead.

Nazr and Rasho are so gone. Oberto and Scola can do their jobs at half the price. Big money is for the top 3 players in SA.
What kind of dumbass owner cuts costs while the team is a position for a potential dynasty. Most of the league owners would kill to have the spurs payroll (Nazr extension included). Holt couldnt be that much of a stick
I find it hard to believe Nazr wont be resigned
Nazr is your 5th best player at best. You spend on your best players and fill in the rest with good role players. No sensible owner is going to spend $10M/year on a role player, which is a minimum for Nazr's next contract.
Horry is the guy the Spurs need to concentrate on finding a replacement for. He's the guy who's consistently on the floor with Duncan at crunch time.
One less big for Yao to deal with..
hope he walks
I can only hope Holt is that stupid
The thing that gets me is this guy has had quality teams with low payroll for a number of years. he even won a championship with a team that was under the cap in 03 which is unheard of.
Now he has a team ready for championship runs and he may not pay to keep it together?
Thats BS and you as fans should be pissed.

Amen. Look at what certain ownership groups in the NBA are quite willing to spend untold amounts of $ on. Now you look at what the Spurs have and you have this penny pinching bull . They had Parker under contract for 3 years at less than $1 mil per season and then the last one at $1.5 mil. They had Manu at $1.5 mil per season for two seasons. On top of that they had the lux tax distributions that the league was doling out as well as the extra playoff $ that came from a couple of championship runs. , they were able to get rid of Rose's contract which they whined and moaned about for at least 2 years.
The Spurs' pockets aren't hurting. them being cheap when there are more championships to be won.
There aren't that many good/solid centers in the league today. That being said, Nazr will get some nice offers next off-season from teams that see him as great fit in the center spot. He certainly is a good/solid center and the Spurs could use him, no doubt, but the Spurs also have a center in Rasho and a good backup in Oberto.
Either teams aren't very interested in Rasho or the Spurs aren't liking what they'll get for him. Either way, I'm not seeing him being traded this off-season.
The Spurs have both Scola and Mahimni in Europe and there's still a possibility of Scola comming next season. What I would like the Spurs to do is trading Nazr after this season to a team that is willing to give up 2 draft picks or possibly a draft pick and a player. Rasho is definatly good enough to play as our starting center.
