Well it's preseason, so I dunno if people would actually attend. But if it's a regular season than it would sell out.
It will sell out. There's no worries of that.

More Sponsors ( == more money) because the actual game counts for the season and teams will take it seriously ??
Doesn't matter whether the teams take the game seriously. What matters is the money raised. People get to see NBA stars and help raise money. Excellent idea.

Wow. That's very cool. Now I wonder...is going to be a preseason like game where the starters play limited minutes?

Still, very cool idea...they should televise it nationally.

Shaq's been doing a lot. I saw him on Access Hollywood (errrrrrr.....I was channel surfing) and he and his wife helped Jaime Foxx coordinate some kind of celebrity auction in Miami that helped raise $600,000.

What does it being pre-season have to do with anything? It's a special event that has nothing to do with the NBA season.

I'm thinking more like the all-star game. It's to raise money, it's for fun..nobody gets hurt; score somewhere in the 130's for the winner (which will most likely be Miami since their fans are the ones out the $$$$) Should be fun to watch.

I got this in my email just a few minutes ago. This should be a great game.

But...why is the word Heat always capitalized?

The media are trying to jam their marketing ploys on the Heat and Suns down the viewers throats.

i think this continues to show the disprepect which is meeted out by the league to the Champion team.come on the spurs are the champs the game should be played at the SBC center...and another thing is that the spurs the defending champion playing away from home on christmas day..

While normally I would take affront to us playing down there, there is some logic to it...

    1. The Heat arena seats more than SBC (though you could argue they could stick it in the Alamodome and put 40K in there)

    2. There's more rich/famous people in Miami than SA. It's a fact. I imagine part of that "unique" experience will include many celebs - lots call South Beach home (or at least have a place there).

Now's now the time to be critical, this beats the out of the 25K chump change that other teams have been donating

That sucks ass why cant they do the same thing over here where the actual victims are being housed...great oppurtunity for the fans of Miami to meet all the players not the victims....

It seems to me that as far as the victims go, it doesn't make a difference where the game is played.

The victims have no money and therefore wouldn't go to the game even if it was here- unless of course a sponsor donated tickets to them.

I am also thinking that the Spurs will do some separate activity for the hurricane victims... like a meet and greet before the open practice or something similar.

As far as bringing in funds, as someone has already said, Miami is the ideal location to have the game.

It's in Miami for one reason: that would be on the way home from SA's training camp in the USVI.

It doesnt matter if its preseason or not the very fact that they are offering a chance to meet and interact with players before the game will make this venue a sell out, plus the token that all the money will be going to charity for the relief of Hurricane Katrina...this was a spectacular idea, i just dont think it should have been done in Miami,

If they did it here at the alamodome so the victims of the Hurricane could go to the game, then the victims would be paying money to themselves. it's a fundraiser, so they're having it somewher else. And no way should there be some point system about final score being relevant to the amount of money donated. I know I sure don't want to see any players from either team getting hurt trying to win a scrimmage. This is about great basketball players getting together on the court to help raise money for Katrina victims. All it has to do to raise maximum money is sell out, and they'll do that whether it's a super compe ive game or not. I think it's a freakin' awesome idea.
