This was just a horrible take from upstairs. Manu is closer to top 5 SG status than Tony is to top 5 PG status. As someone mentioned earlier, Tony has only been transcendentally good for 2 or 3 seasons in his career. That won't cut it if we're talking about GOAT status. Plus when you factor in that he's been a poor playoff performer (almost all of his numbers go down) for most of his career, it becomes even harder to make a case for him.
Not even close to a top 5 PG. No metric on Earth supports the idea that TP is anything but an "average" star player, in the vein of Walter Davis or Jeff Teague. And the only aspect of his game that passes the "eye test" is his penetration and finishing. Other than that, he's been a below average jumpshooter, below average passer, and a way below average defender.
Parker might be a top 5 PG of his time, but not all time imho. There're too many great PGs that automatically come to your mind before TP when speaking of all time tbh.
tbh Enrique definitely had overachieved in his career.
But no Top 5 or 10.
Top 20-25 is a reasonable range
I understand and concur with all the Parker hatred, he's a mediocre defender and play maker, he habitually performs sub par in the playoffs etc... but still like Cully said, you're light 3 without him, tbh.
Depends on who you plug in for him. If we simply sub in the back-ups like Vaughn or Beno then sure, but if you put in another $10 mill/yr PG probably not. Scoring PGs with poor courtvision aren't all that rare...he just wasn't an irreplaceable player like Timmy or Manu.
Speedy/Kerr had to bail him out in '03, Barry in '05 and CoJo/Patty in '14. It was never really a Big Three tbh.
