Green would be smart to stay with the Spurs. How many other teams will be able to hide his deficiencies quite like the Spurs? Sure he could go to some other team and make a few more bucks in the short term, or he could stay with the Spurs and take a bit less but build his basketball legacy.

Yup. Although I think he'd get more touches on the Grizz. Lillard likes to chuck a little too much imo.
Lillard does have a little Costanza in him.

Milwaukee didn't learn the last time they took a Spurs' shooter?

The only way that I see Danny Green leaving is if the Spurs show little interest in keeping him (whether it be lacking the interest to match offers from other teams in FA or by using him as a means to get LMA via S/T).

Danny will not take a pay cut considering he's a role player. This is going to be the last big contract of his career so he's looking to cash in. I just wonder how much he's going to get on the open market. Unfortunately I think he's gone if a team throws out a 4 year 40 mil deal.

The eve of FA and any other similar time period like the draft is lying time. Smart Spursfan understands that none of this is coming from the Spurs nor Green's camp.

It is very much in the interest for clubs to if nothing else to seem to be very active. Most franchises operate this way in order to build hype and reputation which helps to sell tickets. I just hope our ownership group is willing to eat some tax for one year before the balloon. It's classic buy low/sell high. This is going to be a much more efficient market compared to future years.
You don't know what the you're talking about.

I don't think the Spurs let him walk if those are the numbers. I think it's a given that the Spurs will match (although I know that he's not a RFA) anything $10M/yr or less. I think the FO is fearful that a team would be willing to offer him a deal in the $13M-$15M range.

Why would the Spurs let Green walk unless there's an absurdly high offer? The Spurs can afford to offer Green $10-12 million. Green's cap hold is only around $6 million currently. Only thing stopping the Spurs from re-signing Green is that they decide to choose Splitter over Green or Holt is penny pinching.

Sadly someone will offer him that man, wish him well if he goes. I doubt he has the same impact on another team unless they have the right parts, if he goes to a bad team where he won't get those open threes and so on he will struggle mightily IMO. He is a system player, very good one but a system player nonetheless.

I agree in the sense he needs to be on a contender to be effective otherwise his game suffers. Unfortunately there will be some stupid team that will throw the farm at him.

I wonder if Danny is still in Rio - seems like he should be back by now but he's still posting pictures.

Might as well listen to what other teams have to say, nothing to lose.

Though its Detroit, not sure what you can offer there....

Pistons and Van Gundy's system with Jennings/Jackson penetrating and Drummond on the interior would be a nice fit for Green, tbh..probably a 5-6 seed in the ty East IMO..

Bucks would be a nice fit, too, if they keep Middleton..scary defensive team, and they desperately need shooting..can't imagine Green going there, though..

Danny would be clapping his hands wide open while Jennings dribbled into a double team and chucked it.. Danny would frown and say, "memories"
