I love it. If goes back to Clippers he shouldn't expect to play anywhere else his entire career. This could also alter how free agency works as well.

Like baseball there are certain "unwritten rules" and this is a big violation of it. Once a player commits to another team you move on.

Best part about all this is Cuban said Mavs would have gone into tank mode if they haven't gotten Jordan![]()

Free agents changing mind after verbal agreements not unprecedented:
Not surprised. The entire clips organization is full of immature babies

ESPN sources say Chris Paul has been pushing hard to change DeAndre Jordan's mind in recent days and is expected to join today's meeting
It's not exactly analogous but Boozer's stunt in 2004 was the worst I've seen in this league up to this.
Not sure why the "verbal commitment date" (July 1) does not align with the "actual signing date" (July 9) of a free agent. Can someone explain why they are different days?
The NBA's moratorium period at the start of July every year is designed to allow the league to calculate the precise new salary cap and luxury tax figures for the coming season. But teams and players are allowed to come to verbal agreements during the moratorium starting July 1. The first seven days of 2015 free agency produced a frenzy that has seen roughly 70 free agents come to terms on new contracts.
players keep doing this the july 1 date and july 9 date will be closer together
no eed for 8 days in between maybe 3
Busch league at it's finest - what a joke.
"unwritten rules". If it's not written that it's a violation then go for it.
Not sure why the wait,
but there should be repercussions for such an act.
Mavericks
damn, what if Aldridge follows suit![]()
Clippers will always be the laughing stock of the league. Flopping, ass crying owner, choking point guard, Glenn Rivers.

Bull move by a bull franchise.
Yes...but why couldn't they figure out the cap numbers earlier/later so July 1st or 9th is the day you can actually sign, instead of coming to a verbal agreement that's non-binding.
DJ will change his mind and go back to LA. Sucks for us but it's the better BB decision for him. Without him, Clippers are considerably diminished. Really hope he leaves but if he's giving them the time of day at this late juncture and having second thoughts it does not bode well for Dallas.
I can't help but laugh at the Mavs if he backs out. But what a move by DJ if does.
DeAndre needs to stop monkeying around, tbh.
