Honestly, the biggest hurdles are threefold:
    (1) gelling at a fast pace so as not to get behind in seeding early on
    (2) health of the big 5 - Aldridge, Leonard, Duncan, patty, and green. IMO these players will be the most important pieces. A side issue becomes will Tony be willing to be minimized if he proves to be ineffective like last year. I think he will be surprisingly better play wise but I worry about that going to his head a bit and he has delusions of grandeur being the main guy again.

(3). Establishing a pecking order. See Tony rant above and the issue of Aldridge wanting to maintain his stats. I'm not saying he is Kobe Bryant, but he kinda likes to get his. I think he can get 18 and 10 in the system if the fit is good and maybe more. But let's face it, on a team predicated on ball movement and spacing it is hard to produce a player scoring 20 plus a game. Let's say that defenses play the spurs to where defenders make him the priority in pick and roll situations. If so, his numbers will dive and Tony and the spaced out three pointers stand to benefit. If his numbers get in the 15 points a game range he might start jacking up and going ISO ball every time he sniffs the ball. I doubt this happens but it could.

In short, the biggest obstacle is themselves. If this squad carries the torch and operates as usual and Aldridge and Tony completely buy in then number 6 comes in June.

Biggest hurdle is is obviously health. A healthy spurs team all last season would have done real damage.

I wonder if this has the balls to bench fathead next year and put Tony on the bench.
