I wouldn't be surprised. This wouldn't be the first time Konami would interfere in the overall story of a game and fire the producer in the process. Their Flagship JRPG Suikodem ( back when that was popular among fans of the genere) had the same thing happened. Producer leaves or gets fired during the creation of the game, Konami request to cut part of the story and so on.

Konami getting rid of the same people that made their IP's isn't exclusive to Kojima...I'm really surprised people think this is the first..They did the same thing to 3 other producers and IP's
