Yall live too technically. It's nice to get out and appreciate nature, what's around you. It's the most relaxing thing I can think of.
Camping is a lot of fun. It will take some great organizational skills to pull off a camping GTG. Good thing I have them.
Use this thread to make suggestions as to a location. Then we'll narrow them down and vote. We probably won't go until November. Keep that in mind.
Bergheim, Texas has really good camping and it's only 30-45 minutes outside of SA. I think the campground is called "Bergheim Campgrounds"
Camping at Canyon lake is pretty pointless unless you have a boat, IMO. I used to go camping in Guadalupe State Park alot back in the day...it was decent.

Take my advice though. Get inflatable matresses...

This place should be great for a fall camping trip...Canyon lake sucks if you don't have a boat.

just don't go skinny dipping / outdoor sexing even if you are way upriver. They have some pervert park rangers whose full time job is busting couples trying to maximize their "outdoor adventure"...[/voice of experience]

I think you can skinny-dip at Bergheim. But don't quote me on that. There wasn't much security when I went a couple months ago.

you might need a reflective sleeping bag or something.
I ADORE Inks Lake...but it may be a little too far a drive. They have cabins you can rent (pretty cheap) with electricity and A/C.
And cliff diving.
My idea of camping is at a hotel.
I am not camping at Brak... your car will be gone or wheels lifted when you wake up (Hey I am native to SA I know first hand).
