    Getting back to music...

Other than boot camp I doubt a day has ever gone by where I didn't listen to something. As a little kid the radio/records, always going.

My home musical library is really something, everything from classical to African tribal to prisoners to Brit rockers, hillbillies, old blind black cats, Jamaicans, I got it covered.

    How about this mix?

    Red House...Jimi Hendrix
    Crawling Kingsnake...The Doors
    CC Rider...The Chambers Brothers
    Rather Go Blind...Etta James
    Monterey....The Animals
    Gloomy...CCR
    Sweet Virginia...The Stones
    LaGrange...ZZ Top
    Ball n' Chain...Janis Joplin
House of the Rising Sun..Bob Dylan
    Casey Jones...The Grateful Dead
    Long Black Veil...The Band
    Bullfrog Blues..Canned Heat

So you would have told all those sailors coming back off liberty bragging about their night that they were all pedos? As you stayed on board the ship....right?

Hey Avante, I almost broke into a smile today, saw a little dog ran over by a truck. Almost, it was close, and I did grin once some years ago, heard my granny had cancer.

So if you had been in the Navy in the early 70's all those sailors coming off liberty talking about their sexual exploits you would have told them they were are pedos, right? Answer the question, ok?

Little man, do you honestly believe us sailors passed on the full grown women for little inexperienced under developed girls? You really this ing dense?

I cannot believe how many here can be this ing stupid about this.

A black QB now owns the NCAA td record.

A black QB is the only undefeated QB in the NFC.

A black QB is on the number one NCAA team in the nation.

    Talking music.

I grew up listening to what my parents listened to, as starters. In our house it was Hank Williams, RoY Acuff, Ernest Tubb, Gene Autry. Yep, started out on country music. And to this day it never got any betterr than those I mentioned.

Ernest Tubb was a big fan of the great Jimmie Rodgers the King of Country, here he is in his first record from 1937, you'dmix this with early Bob Wills and those I mentioned.

    Perfect fit.

    Staying in the mood.

St. Louis Blues a cover of the classic Bessie Smith tune. Emmett Miller (performed in black face) does a fantastic cover.

Mule Skinner Blues a cover of an old Jimmie Rodgers tune.

Emmett Miller was fantastic, he also wrote and recorded "The Lovesick Blues" that Hank Williams made famous.

This is the best cover of Lead Bellys "In The Pines" I've heard. Nirvana gave it a try it was ok.

To round this out it has to be............

This music endures it stands the test of time, ya never out grow it.

You've probably heard her in movies she is the Queen of that high lonesome sound from the Appalachians*** she is the real deal. The great Hazel ens.

*** some of the most haunting eerie of all American music.

B.F.Shelton, the guy only sang about violence, this a classic.

This legend only recored 10 songs in 1927 and then just disappeared. He is considered the best example of old time back in them hills music. He was found in the 60's.

    Changing the mood.

It's the late 60's, you're driving around up in the hills above Exeter, you and three buddies smoking pot and drinking cheap wine, on the stereo.

    Give these guys/bands a listen.

    Paul Kelly Band
    Grant Lee Buffalo
    The Why Store
    The Silencers
    Griffin House
    Willie Ames
    Will Oldman
    Good Medicine
    Slaid Cleaves
    Amos Lee

We all know....The Beatles, Willie Nelson, The Stones, Bob Dylan etc. Then there's all those...who? I own a ton of that....who? And there's some great stuff there that's pretty much obscure to most and it's a shame.

I discovered these guys about six montha ago. I really like this.
